Compiled: FJ Springs Lift Info for 4th gen

You will only gain an 1" to 1.25 " with the FJ/Moog Rear Springs if a 2wd rig.
4wd rigs normally see .50"
Combine FJ spring 1.25" with Daystar 1.5" will net you 2.50" -2.75" of rear lift add that with cranking up front 5100's and FJ Coils = sitting level front to back with a 2.50" - 2.75" lift all around just shy of that 3" mark.
Ran this exact set up for a long time with stock UCA and was able to get alignment practically spec on.

There you go boys. That should cover any of the questioning and concerns

Yes but from what I've read moog rears are lot stiffer than the OEM fjs and are netting higher lift

Based on info I could find, it is true the Moog rears are taller, but they are a lower coil rate. Rear FJ OEM = .59 thick x 14.76 length x 190lbs, Moog = .59 thick x 15.35 length x 171lbs which in total = -5% stiffness over stock. So it look likes what you gain in height you will lose in softness.

Just to keep this updated:

I just installed the rear 2010 FJ Shocks on mine, 2008 Sr5 with no problems or modifications necessary. Dont know if I got lucky or what but there seems to be no problem with 2010+ FJ suspension.

Trayscool et al,

what FJ coils will i need for my 2003 V8 Limited with the XRES shocks and struts? I am looking for a mild 1-1.5" level Non-Rake lift. I also want the simplest and cost effective install as well.

can someone tell me the exact year FJ coils that I should be looking for as well as if i will need to upgrade my shocks and struts as well since i have the XRES shocks could i still get the stock shocks from an FJ as well as their coils for a little lift as well as a better ride?

Thanks!

05 v6 4x4 sport here Looking at doing demello 3 hoop front steel bumper and cbi rear with swing tire carrier... i already have bilstein 5100s... will fj coils front and back be stiff enough to run those bumpers? I cant seem to find anyone running bumpers front and /or rear with 5100 fj combo

I suspect that you'll want some old man emu or other taller, aftermarket springs to support the weight. Contact the specialty shop of your choice, and they can probably recommend and sell you appropriate springs. Toytec and down south motor sports are two that come to mind.

Yea i have been thinking i would have to do heavier springs ..i just got a set of fj springs for free so if they would get me by for a bit when i bought armor that would be cool..but planning on metal tech 2.5 non resis front and rear..might just have to do it all at once then

Read almost all of this thread and the combos are making my head spin.

I have a 2003 v6 ltd. Ordered 5100's, acdelco FJ springs front and rear, daystar 1.5" rear spacer.

I'm planning to set the front perch at the highest setting, should I expect a level stance or should I put it to 1.75"?

Thanks

It will be right about level. If you want a small rake put it at 1.75.

Thanks for the quick info. Also forgot to as; will I be looking at CV joint issues with this? I've read that a diff drop doesn't help very much with the angles anyway...

I'll post pics when I get it done end of April-ish.

You won't need a dif drop unless you go above 3.5" of lift.

Just picked up my 1/2 inch torque wrench yesterday. So I'm pretty sure I have all the tools and ready to dive in this weekend. I'm sure y'all will hear from me...ha

Hey guys. I installed a set of new 2010+ FJ springs on my 2006 V6 SR5 a while ago. Now it's time to replace the shocks. The rig rarely goes off road so I am leaning toward OEM 4Runner shocks (Tokico in Toyota box) just to retain comfort ride. What do you say about this setup? Will OEM shocks not be too soft for the springs? Or shall I install FJ OEMs (not Bilsteins), as they are supposed to be firmer. I am not considering aftermarket options. The current shocks I have are four years old aftermarket Tokico's but they've seen better days and I guess OEM quality is just higher. Even now I don't have nose dive at breaking. Still, just want to make sure OEM shocks will match the springs. Any thoughts are much appreciated, and if you have a similar combination, please advise.

Id get the shocks for a 07 FJC 4x4 to match the spring rate for the springs you have. The 4Runner shocks might not damp the stiffer springs as well.

I'm doing my swap to FJ 4X4 springs and shocks this weekend on my 05 V6 4Runner so I can comment on ride after that. I did it on my old 2wd FJC though and it worked out great. Ride was better than stock with the 4x4 spring/shock setup.

Ok, I'm wanting to move the stabilizer bar out of the way so I can get coil and shock out, do I just loosen these bolts to be able to free it to move out of the way.

If you disconnect the sway bar on both sides you can just pivot it down.
