Continental LX20 for '11 LE?

Continental CrossContact LX20 for '11 LE?

I've seen lots of 5th Gen. Limiteds on the board with Continental CrossContact/EcoPlus tires on them (275/55/20), but am I missing something? I just called TireRack to order some but the tech told me that his company's notes tell him they are not advised, as they have rubbed against the vehicle during their tests.

Are spacers needed? Or, is TireRack being cautious? Any have experiences with rubbing?

Just came back from Town Fair Tire and they told me they would not mount the CrossContact LX20s on my '11 Limited because the size jump from the original 245 to the 275 is too large and they are sure there would be trouble.

Any suggestions?

Wheel width is too narrow. Read the Tire Fitment Guide link in my signature.

Depending on what your goal is, new tires, larger tires, choices.
There is finally another option for the LE, Bridgestone H/L Alenza Plus
at least a well reviewed tire at a reasonable price has become available.

I read your fitment post and I have the green bar, saying the 275/55/20 will no rub. Why did you say they are too wide? What am I missing?

Look at wheel width requirement. The stock rims are 7" not 7.5" unless you have aftermarket wheels. Having said that, someone is going to say they had it done without a problem. I wouldn't and downsized to 17s and now have lots of choices!

Conti says that this tire will go onto a 7" wheel, one of the very few tires that will. Even the dealers/tire stores have no issue with it fitting on the wheel. Their issue is that it is just over an inch wider than stock, with them saying it will rub when executing full turns. I'm asking if anyone has had rubbing issues with this 20" tire on OEM wheels.

Continental's spec sheet for the CrossContact LX20 lists 7.5" as the minimum width for 275/55R20. The minimum listed for the CrossContact LX is 7.0"

The only other 275/55R20 I've seen approved for a 7" rim is the General Grabber HTS.
