CV axle replacement recommendations

Looking to get some myself soon. Any updates? Going with the Toyota re-man a good idea or go with CVJ? Not too sure about the new ones from autozone and other places.

I bought new ( not remanufactured) A1 cardone axles after my lift caused boot ripping. Have had them for over 3 years. Off road with a lot of articulation and DD. No problems. I use my old ones for trail spares. Got them at partsgeek. $45 each.

I did for awhile when I rebooted one of my OEM axles, worked okay but was kinda annoying. As I recall I screw up the second clamp and just used a hose clamp then which is what I replace the clamps with now.

I have a set of Lotus axles and they are holding up very well. I did have to lower my coils to about 2" of lift as well so the boots don't get chewed up. Still have my OEM as backup but need to get them rebooted.

Nothing really to update right now. Boots are still good. I never stretched the boots, just been lazy on that front.
Had the 4runner on a few fire roads and out in the desert, boots seem good so far.

Here's an unwelcome update. Passenger side inner boot is torn. Im sure the driver side is not far behind. I reached out to CVJ, waiting on a reply, but it has been a year so I doubt they will want to do anything. If not I'm going OEM. A buddy has a pair from Napa and the boots seem to have held up much better than these "Extended boots". I can't recommend these boots.

Any more input on the Toyota Remans? If they are of Toyota quality and OE parts just like the ones that originally came on these trucks then that seems like a no brainer to get them.

I have been running Autozone CVs for nearly 3 years without issue. They replaced my OE CVs that had 100k on them, which ripped a few miles after my first lift kit. I have them as spares. Perhaps someday I'll reboot them.

I just got CVJ axles installed on my rig today.

Im not sure if I got suckered...but I told CVJ I wanted reliable non-tearing boots.

$99 x 2 for reman axles
$50 x 2 for outer OEM boot
$42.50 x 2 for inner extended boot

$383 total after cores were returned

Don't forget about the dust shields and to inspect your diff seal. Unless you want to do the job again. ALL the how-to's never mention the damn dust shields.

I see you have 2.5" ICONs in the front...I have Eibachs/5100 on 2d perch and also a diff drop...
my question is, did you do the stretch mod on your autozone specials? I just put in new advance auto CVs(made by carquest) after my OEM boots tore at 108k (and after 5kmiles on the new 3" lift)...figured to do the whole axles instead of re booting since its the same amount of labor...just curious, thanks bud, and we'll see how long the autozones last...i should add they have the limited lifetime warranty so I can just keep bringin em back in, hopefully I dont though cause this is a DD and not wheeled

I did absolutely nothing special to them and they have been just fine. I don't, however, have a full 3" lift in the front. Closer to 2" suspension up front, with a 1/2" body lift. I do have a diff drop.

So when replacing the front axles, what other parts (pertaining to the axles) should also be replaced.

Anybody have a parts list?

I bought 2 new Cardone Select CV Axles and I am supplying the parts to a garage to change them (because I'm having a whole whack of other work done at the same time). So what parts should I also supply with the axles? (Seals, dust shileds w P/Ns)?

Also, are the axles supposed to be identical or different? The 2 axles I got look different. The inner splines don't seem to match.

I'll look closer tonight.

Okay, so upon reading a how-to, it states that both Axles are in fact identical and swappable. Which means that one of my Cardone Axles is the wrong one. Dangit.

I'll be ordering the inner snap ring and dust cover:
RING, HOLE SNAP (FOR FRONT DRIVE SHAFT) - 90521-29002
COVER, DUST (FOR FRONT DRIVE SHAFT) - 41336-35020

But the outer dust shield/seal is a little expensive, so I'll let them know to try and reuse those ones. I'm less worried about the outer anyway.

Anything else?

How many miles on your rig and have you ever had your LBJ's replaced? They're super easy to do at the same time.

180K Miles

and yeah, I'm specifically asking for parts I should replace with the Axles only portion of the job because that is the last piece of the puzzle of what is getting replaced in the same job.

Both sides are getting the full treatment:
LBJ, UBJ, BEARING, OTRE & ITRE, AXLES

I'm also getting the garage to do the Timing Belt and everything that goes along with that job (Got the popular 15-piece eBay package for the T-Belt).

The LBJ's had been replaced by the previous owner. They're the MOOG ones and they have roughly 30K miles on them now, but the passenger side has a ripped boot so I said screw it and got OEM ones.

I just don't want to have to worry about the IFS for another long time so I'm getting all the crucial parts replaced in one shot.

I could go mental and do the Control arm bushings and stuff, but I'm comfortable with the original ones still and as much as I'm blowing my wad on this project, I'm not made of money either, lol.
