I am going to take mine for the tail lights fogging up soon. Did they hassle you at all? What was their protocol on getting them replaced?

When I took it in the first time one tail light had cleared up from been in the sun all day. They said since there was no proof they wouldn't replace it. My dad was in the car business for 35 year and always told me when a problem came up take a pic for proof just in case something like that come up. I showed the dealer the pics they copied the pic files sent the files into to Toyota. Toyota replaced both tail lights no problem at all. My advice take pics of the water problem just in case.

I have the same rattle. I think it is around the windshield but I am not sure if it is the inside dash on the window or possibly the outside of the windshield. Creaks and seems to be when the body torques a bit, not just a rattle. Thinking about shoving a piece of cardboard between the window and dash. Pulled the wipers out and that wasn't it. Turned on heated windshield and that didn't make much difference but wasn't sure. I have a LE 13. I have 20k miles and mine just started.

The last couple of days I have noticed that after I run my windshield wipers just to clean the mist from the crap they are covering the roads with in prep for the winter storm that the noise goes away. It was a lot warmer here yesterday so maybe it was the heat warming up the dash or whatever enough to stop the rattle but I’m starting to think it’s the pass side wiper head. I may go get some of those replacement wiper heads that are one long flexible piece that comes on a lot of new gm, and bmws to see if that is the cause. I maybe totally wrong but it’s worth a try. I know there are a few members that are Toyota service guys and I'm just wondering what they may think it is?

mine does this also. i am thinking it is the small plastic pieces butted up against the window. maybe dirt is getting trapped underneath

I usually carry bottled water in door cup holders when it gets frozen is produces all kinds of rattle. So when I fed up and removed plastic bottles with frozen water from the truck rattles were gone as well. So whoever has rattles in cold weather - it could be just ice formed somewhere.

Alrighty!!! Took my car through the car wash and the dash rattle stopped. It has since been raining and no rattle. Assuming this continues, I think it is the rubber/plastic seal on the bottom of the windshield. I suspected that but didn't know if it was outside or inside. If it comes back when dry I may spray the bottom edge with breakfree or some other type of lube. So far one full day of all around town driving with no rattle.
I have this too with my 2014 LE has been doing it since about 100 miles on the odometer. Cold seems to play a part in it as when its warmer outside it is not a noticeable. Driving me crazy as well. I've searched all over for it and have not found a cause.
Another creak I have found is the recliner bracket on the rear seat, the bracket that slides on the side of the car that allows the rear seat to recline. I've tried silicon spray grease and cant fix it. its only on one side the other side is silent and that sliding mechanism seams tighter on the side that doesn't squeak. Anyone know of a fix, cant figure out how to get into the bracket area without removing the whole inside paneling of the car.
I also have condensation in the rear lights, ridiculous. Are the replacements going to be the same or are these all a bad batch?

It took me reading almost the whole first page of posts to realize that you were talking about a rattle at 125 miles, and not 125k.
While I haven't tried it on the 4runner, I've occasionally used a dab of silicone (or other caulking) to stop an annoying rattle or noise. Or good old white glue. The latest was on the flap on the exhaust fan from a bathroom that would keep fluttering when not used. A little dab of silicone weighed it down just a tiny bit, plus cushioned the hit a little when it does occur.
Good luck. May your next 125k be as rattle free as your first 120 miles were.

Check to see if there is contact in other places that you might have not greased/sprayed. I had a similar problem with one of those seats before. After spraying all the metal to metal contact areas I haven't had the noise come back.
It has been a while since I did this, but I think my issue was from one of the areas that was circled in orange. Probably best to take a spray type with a straw to get into those places. Have an old rag or towel to catch the excess.

I have the water in the lights. I have not taken it in yet. I will say this you mention the back seats making that noise. I replied in anther thread about the sound coming from the back seats. I do believe that it is a strong possibility. I moved mine and banged on the seats and could somewhat replicate the sound. Nonetheless, after moving the seats in and out and back n forth I am not hearing the sound. Who knows, the seats are a good place to start.

I had a meltdown about rattles and squeaks (and other things) a few weeks ago when my wife was violently ill with morning sickness and I was driving her to the hospital from Woodland Park to the Springs every few days because she was so dehydrated.

It is definitely the bracket below the c pillar. it only makes noise when someone is sitting in the seat and when you accelerate or brake it is the pressure of the seat back on the sliding bracket. I've lubed the snot out of it and no dice. It just feels really lose in there and for the life of me can't figure how to tighten it without removing all the panels.

I had both noises when I get the runner. The back seat noise was a fairly easy fix. I adjusted the seat back while adding grease to the bracket that is attached to the c pillar and that noise is gone. The one by the drivers side dash is still very present.

Update. Weather dried out here and windshield creak came back. Put a light amount of WD 40 on 2 feet of the passenger side where the windshield meets the rubber on the outside bottom. No noise since.
Still going strong with no sounds in the dash/ windshield? Im having the same problem and I'm thinking of trying this but wanted to see if it's still working for you.
I did it to mine but used silicon spray lubricant instead of wd40 and no noise since. That is definitely the problem area where the noise is coming from. Its been 3 days and temps in the 20's here in Seattle.
