As for the auto unlocking feature, this is probably one of the most extreme examples you will see, but it goes in hand with what the others talked about.

The front doors can be opened (from the inside) while locked and you can still exit. However, the backdoors do not do this. The backdoors must be unlocked before you can exit. Just FYI.
that back ones don't and my kids ride in the back.... with the doors locked bad guys can not gain access... perfect

Its a security thing, I want to control when I unlock the vehicle. I may not be ready to debus the minute I shift into park.

but, im thinking...need to keep the doors locked so 1) the kids cant get out, and 2) to keep "bad" guys out.
you guys are parking/living in some pretty ****ty areas, and have some unruly kids.

I recieved mine last week. I didn't have any issue at all. The gui is pretty straight forward. Plug the cable in, click "connect to car", then enjoy. There's a customizations button in there that allows you to "drill down" into each customization. A simple "on/off" toggle on every option you can change and then click the "arrow" to save and proceed. It's pretty easy.
**Note: Harper7 and Limamike both mentioned that thier cables were difficult to disconnect from the truck's port. Mine, however, has no issue and I haven't had any trouble at all so I'm not sure if it's a different version now or what have you. Be advised and take approriate action to save yourself any disconnection hassle.

I'm not sure I would go there.................. as this is hacked software on Feebay that is copyrighted by Toyota and that they sell for big bucks. It's $1095 per year for access to it through Toyota.
Did you show any of those dealers the manual, where it lists what you can and can't customize? Also, did you see the first page of this thread, post #9? Doesn't look like you even need Tech-stream for this change.......be safe.

I tend to agree with Harper7. Just make the changes you want and move on. It's a shame the dealers don't know thier own product, but you've found a solution that will resolve your issue. It's best to keep this "feebay" version your little secret.
In every sector (IT, housing, automotive, construction, aviation, restaurant etc) there are those people who SUPPOSEDLY know their products. There are always people who REALLY know (and do not work for the manufacturer) a specific product/procedure. We all have them in our workplace. You know the guy/gal; the one that knows everything. We seek them out, I used to call them the "Go To" person in any organization. Well guess what? Most dealerships are like MOST entities; some have "Go To" employees, and some do not. Unfortunately you've encountered the few that do not.
Time to bypass the ignorant and either find another stealership or do-it-yourself!

Does the 4runner use the 16 pin connector or the 22 pin connector? I see on eBay both types for the tech stream. I'm thinking it uses the 16 pin, because it looks like the 22 pin is for older models, but just wanted to make sure before I ordered.
