Update to this drama

So...trying to relax here in Spain before we head back across the pond. Want to thank everyone for their support and information.
It turns out the dealer who sold me my previous 4Runner helped out with the situation.
Wound up getting a fully loaded Limited...out the door for the same price I was going to pay for the Trail.
Truth is I really wanted the little extras that the Limited had (especially the heated seats) and dual climate. So maybe it does all work out better in the end.
My take away from this is as bad as going to the dealer can be, I thought ordering what I wanted with plenty of time would be easy. I didn't really do the price fight...I was willing to pay the little extra to get what I wanted. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and I despair of it ever happening.
So, I went back to the old school way of dealing with dealerships...and came away with something I can be happy with.

I have been on this forum for the better part of 6 years and love everything about it...all the info and support. Saved a ton of money and grief...and hopefully helped some others as well.

My sr5 has heated seats.. and I had a climate control in my old car, and never used it (well, used it once)..

Just a side note, the only vehicle my family ever "special" ordered was a 1988 F-250 4X4, regular cab. Dad specd it out exactly how he wanted it and it was going to be his first new truck he'd ever bought. Well, after months of waiting, he was there when they pulled it off the transport and it had maroon interior, which was an immediate deal breaker! He was so bummed and I remember, even as a kid, feeling pretty sorry for him, he'd waited for so long to be able to afford it and get what he wanted. Well, at the same time his came in, another truck just like the one he ordered, except instead of all black, it was gray on the top and bottom and black through the middle. A 250, 4x4 XLT Lariet. He really wanted the all black, but "settled" on the two tone. Well, to this day, he still has that truck, the odometer quit at 275,000 miles, about a decade back. It hasn't been his primary truck for a good 15 years or so, but it's still on the original motor, the original muffler and if not for some mice eating some wiring in the past year or so while it was sitting in his equipment lot it would fire up and run today. It was literally one of those once in a lifetime vehicles, Ford should make a commercial out of it. It spent 90% of it's life pulling a Bobcat or some other piece of equipment or heavy load, it pushed snow in the winter and basically did anything dad ever asked it to do and more. And, the other truck was bought locally as well and it was a gigantic POS. It rusted out many many years ago and hasn't seen the road in decades.

So, anyway, sorry for the long story, but I hope you have the same luck with you "accidental" purchase as my dad had with his!
