Diffinitive cell phone mount solution thread?

Objectives:

1. Operate with one hand, while arm is resting on the arm rest, and doesn't get in way of drink holder, or transmission or transfer gear levers.
2. modular: switch between a ram X mount, a cradle, and a tablet.
3. be stable, easy to remove, and require no drilling.

Cons:
1. expensive
2. lots of pieces

Pieces:
1. Ram Mount wedge: as name implies this is wedge between the dead space between seat and center console. This will not move once its wedged in place. Its easy to place, since its held by friction, but sturdy enough to mount a tablet if you wanted to. This is badass. I wish i got this a while back.
2. Ram mount double socket swivel arm: It allows more articulation of the cradle or x mount. Ideally, you want a long one.
3. Arkon 25mm to 17mm ball adaptor: you need this to be able to mount a akron cradle to a ram mount arm
4. Arkon/Mpow cradle: a cell phone cradle.
5. optional/not pictured: Ram Mount X cradle
6. Optional/not pictured: Ram mount tablet cradle.

Came up with this, didn't want to drill, but its only a 30.00 trim part and i can always fill it an wrap it again.

I really dont know but haven't found anything that says it does.

I personally believe that it will break away just like the A Pillar breaks away since there isn't any drilling. Its just constructed to "snap" into place and so I feel like when the a pillar swings away the mount will swing out with it.

Only thing that would worry me is that the phone could turn into a dangerous projectile if the bag goes off. Other than that I like the look.

I have an anker wireless charger/mount. Its a vent clip, but it has a neat cam system to clamp it. It also has little legs to keep it from drouping. Ive been off road a few times with it and its worked fine, but i dont do anything with rocks. Ram mount would definately hold better, but im impressed with how sturdy this is.

Fyi i hardwired it to a usb behind the dash.

For what its worth... I hardwired my wireless grip charger(the kind you drop phone in and the arms auto squeeze it) and mounted the ram mount directly below the passenger airbag light. Fits great, keeps the phone accessible but out of direct line of sight which I like. I drilled a small hole just below the mount and ran the microusb to a tiny voltage reducer that I tapped into the cig lighter. This means less wire clutter and I can use the cig lighter for addition usb stuff if needed. Took maybe an hour and look nice and clean

I live in the Bay Area so any cell phone mount may get my window smashed by street critters thinking there may be a phone or GPS inside.

I took out the rubber liner from the front cupholder and keep my phone in there.

Here is my ghetto solution using GoPro clamps and selfie phone holder. Its more sturdier than the Ottie that I had in my previous vehicle, and I am liking it so far.

For years I used the RAM X-Grip stuck to the wind shield of my 2006 Mercedes Benz C-Class. Less than optimal but it gets the job done. My 2020 4Runner has Apple Car Play so I wont need to look at my iPhone for directions

Base will basically stick to bezel around hazard switch, and ball joint will attach to it. Alibaba shipping will take time to get here though.

I have a 2020, so I toss mine in that french fry holder spot above one of the cup holders if I'm using Android Auto. Phone goes in upside down, and the cable comes out the top of the phone. Easy peasy.

Seriously, what is that slot for? Is it really for french fries?

I have this. Swapped out the holder for a magnetic base. Works perfect. Instant CarPlay.

This thing is unbelievably stout!

Removing the radio bezel was super easy. After I got the holes drilled I had to remove the driver's side air vent in order to get the backing plate and screws tightened down. That was probably the most annoying part. I think there were 6 clips I needed to hold open almost simultaneously so I could slide it out without breaking any. But it turned out great!

The magnet sticks to the back of my case... so yes lol. I mean I’m not one to judge, people can do as they wish, just don’t understand all the hoopla over permanent phone mounts. Personal opinion I suppose, but I don’t want to drill into my dash.

I like to use my Qi charging, can't have metal plate in the back for Qi to work. GoPro mount let me move the screen little to the right, so I can position where I want it.
