Diffinitive cell phone mount solution thread?

ICS Fab

No one a fan of the ICS Fab setup? I haven't bought it yet, but plan to pick up the ICS Fab mount setup. Includes all plug and play, doesn't block clock on the dash and gives you an eye level view. Yes, it is pricey. I should have jumped on the Black Friday sale and saved $40.00, but that's another story. It does require a bit of drilling, but it looks like it could have come from the factory. Really well done, from what I've seen, and has very good installation instructions.

Mine arrives this thursday. I'll be mounting it up with a ram mount system this weekend. Will report back.

Dude, that problem is so familiar to me. I just do not know where to place my freaking phone. I have an iPhone 11 pro max, and this thing is just soo wide, that most of the cell phone mounts just cannot hold it. And I am sorry, but I just do not want a simple mount that would look like a piece of sh*t in my car. I want a good looking mount.

ProClip has holders and mounts for the iPhone 11 and 12 including the pro max. They are sturdy. I have never had a problem with my iPhone 11 mount. My iPhone 11 is in an OtterBox Defender which makes it a big bigger and much heavier than the phone by its self.

In my opinion, they look good too.

I have the ProClip attached to a ram ball and arm. Has worked well until the bottom clip decided to give. Still recommend it though.

Dude, get the proclip. I have mine and it works great with my new iPhone 12 pro max.

I've got the Scosche Magic Mount, I've taken it on some rough forest service roads and haven't lost it from the mount, surprisingly.

Hi - I completely agree with your location choice for the phone mount... I want to mount in the exact same place...

Can u kindly snap a close up picture of what that mount looks like WITHOUT the phone on it?

Can u also post an Amazon link to buy that particular Scosche Magic Mount?

Thx!

Have it and like it. My setup has been tweaked a little bit but you get the idea. I ended up bolting the single ball to the side of the mount vs underneath for better clearance. For some reason, my radio was a PIA to get back in. I have done lots of removals in the past with no issues. The Ipad mount is from Tackform, I like it better than the X-Grip Arm from Ram that I used to use. The X-Grip gets in the way of a lot of the buttons on the iPad vs the top arms on the Tackform mount.

I am going to swap the phone mount with another Tackform mount with the elbow. Ram makes something similar if folks are committed to Ram. I loved mine but again the Xgrip gets in the way of all of the buttons. I prefer to have my gadgets as low as possible to avoid blocking my forward visibility.

I was hesitating at first to go with ICS because of the drilling, but now that I’m planning on running a bunch of accessories, it’s the best mounting platform in my opinion. Now I just need to find the time to get it in.:D

I use the Schosche cigarette lighter magnet mount and it’s been great. Zero issues with it falling off. I have a Rokform case on my phone that has a strong magnet.

Dont have a lot of area to offroad around us. But i got a lot of good ideas from everyone on here for something i really didnt think of. So just a thanks to everyone. Im new on this site and just getting used to it.

Offroam MagSafe Mount is a Solid Choice

I’ve been usisng the Offroam MagSafe mount for almost a year now & it’s been solid on and off-road. Two thumbs up if you have a newer MagSafe iPhone & want a non-drill dash mount. Clamps above the AC vent (or other locations) & allows for full adjustment of the AC vent airflow + near-line-of-sight positioning.

PS - they also have a non-MagSafe version if you need side clamp style mounting for an older phone.

Another Proclip Endorsement

I wanted no-drill and no permanent modification. I also wanted my phone outside of my field of vision (because I have enough attention span problems already).

Proclip offers a mount that goes on the center console without drilling or permanent modification. Magsafe alternative (separate purchase) works well and holds the phone reasonably securely, outside my field of vision. Take my money...

The install video provides a pretty clear idea of what you are actually buying.

Had I known, I would have waited for one of their sales, which they run a few times each year. Black Friday was probably the deepest discount I saw last year.
