Sent my HVAC controls to emelianenkov to install a red LED for the Off position and a blue LED for the A/C button. I love it!!

NEO 5 won't Fit!
Hey guys,
I have an 04 SR5 (not sure if it matters) and I ordered the NEO 5 bulbs for the 4WD bulb replacement and also to replace for the HVAC screen and they won't fit at all. I have tried and tried and really don't want to break the unit to get them to fit. Should I order NEO4 bulbs and maybe I have just been reading everyone's posts wrong or is there a secret to making them fit...
Also, I can't get the NEO3 bulb to work for the middle knob (the AC temp up and down knob). The regular plain Orange bulb works fine but when I put in the NEO3... No go for the blueness. Please advise! Thanks!
ALSO, anyone know specifically how to change the cup holder bulbs, the gear shifter bulbs, and the glove box bulbs?? I am ordering some 74 bulbs of those as well... Please let me know before I order more wrong parts haha :cheers:

Alright! I'll address these issues in list-form.
1. For the 4WD bulb, you need a neo-3
2. For the HVAC screen you need two neo-4
3. For the A/C knob, have you tried taking the bulb out and putting it in the other way? The bulbs are polarized and the direction they are installed matters
All neo bulbs require trimming, OR you can use a small file to enlarge the hole they are going into. That is what I do!
4. The cup holder, shifter, and glove box lights are all the 74 bulb.
To Replace The 74 Bulbs:
-Wrap electrical tape around the stock bulb (It is glass. It will break if you use excessive pressure. The electrical tape will give you grip and catch the shards of glass).
-Use a pair of pliers to gently grab and rock the bulb side to side until it comes loose
-Take the new bulb and press it into the bulb socket. This requires a lot of force and sometimes some superglue to ensure a good fit. Don't be afraid to use the glue.
Hope that helps! I've been struggling with the neo bulbs for almost a year, so if you have any other questions regarding that, don't be shy!

It's a NEO 3 for the 4wd? I put one of those in there and the hole is WAY to big for the
NEO 3... Or at least it looked like it was. The bulb just kept spinning in the hole and never "caught" a groove or anything to stay in place. The bulb that was already in there looked significantly larger as well than the NEO 3 but I will be happy to try it again. That's why I was thinking it may be a NEO 4..
As for the center HVAC knob I have tried 4 different bulbs and it's pretty unlikely that every one I put in the exact same way and it didn't work but I will try it again too...

Sorry! The NEO 4 is for the 4WD switch, though it doesn't light too well. I've been trying to solve this dilemma for a while now.
I sure hope you are just putting the bulbs in backwards! Otherwise you might be having some serious issues!
The DAC, Diff locker, and Rear Window are all NEO 3 bulbs that you have to shorten to get to fit... Its a PITA...
You can't go wrong with my gauge swaps! :wink2:

For your gauges you need PLCC-2 LEDs, found at oznium.com. I buy mine in bulk from eBay because it's cheaper for my business (yes I do this stuff as a business)
You need 10 neo-3 and 2 neo 4 from superbrightleds.com for the switches around the cabin and your air conditioning panel, lovingly referred to here as an HVAC unit.
I do all this work for you for $200 even, instead of you paying $75 on parts alone when you order from those websites. I have experience and I have good deals. Check out my site!

All was well except a faulty LED presented itself to snowbrdr033 when he installed it :/. Those unexpected things suck!
Here is a teaser anyway (you can see the faulty LED under the C side of the temperature gauge
