DIY: Interior LED swap (cluster, HVAC, switches, window, *steering wheel)

I want to change the color of the arrows in the HVAC unit. I would imagine those lights are buried a little deeper in the unit, haven't dug into it yet.
Does anyone know if you only need one led for each dial or do you need one led per arrow? Each dial has 4 or 5 arrows. I would think one led per dial but haven't looked yet.
Also would these leds be the smaller 8mm twist-ins?

Thanks propman07, yeah thats different than my '05, no orange covers on my bulbs.

What color is your LCD display background?
You could try to buy two of the NEO LEDs and swap them out to see if it will yield a white background....just a thought.

LCD background is orange. Half of my display was dark so I just replaced both bulbs a couple weeks ago. Both bulbs were clear and background still comes up orange so I'm sure with white/clear leds it would still be orange.

Still want to change the color of the HVAC arrows.

I put white LEDs in mine, and it lights up similar to the one posted above.

Really? Guess I may have to try the leds then. I wonder if the leds are brighter and just wash out the orange background. Dunno.

i dont think there is any orang background at all, i think its just a normal screen. try getting the high powered neo4 for the screen. i have non high powered and they are a little dim, mine are blue, but im ordering the high powered and im getting high powere for the 3 AC knobs so they are nice and bright. no need for high powered with mode/reset and rear windon defrost/air re-circulate as its a very small area to light up

no prob. havent done the arrows. i am ordering all new ones to re do it all. i think i would rather keep the arrows orange so i know what setting its on especially since im going all Blue. should look good.

well i only originally did the screen but it left 2 dim spots on each side. im hoping the high powered will fix that, and im just guessing on all the other ones that i stated need high power after seeing the previous pics of the guy that did his white. his were reg. bulbs and they werent too bright. i just ordered all mine so im excited to get them

do yall think it would be smart to unplug the fuse for interior gages before unplugging all my bulbs and putting in new ones? i dont want to blow another fuse because im out of spares and i dont want to blow out a new bulb. thanks

Hey- I assume that you are ordering the high powered version of the NEO LEDs. If so, could you post a pic/comments on how bright they are? I was worried that the HP LEDs would be too bright, kind of like three flashlights pointing right at you out of the dash!

yea i got the high powereds and ill get pics and let you know what i think, you can always turn your dash lights down a tad if its too bright

There is 1 led for each arrow that is soldered onto the board. you have to take the selector apart to get to the boards.

I feel like for all the work you already doing (with the cluster and aiming the others) when doing this swap, you may as well take that extra step if the orange arrows would bother you. Just my 2.

i don't think its needed. the only time it would be an issue is if your truck is sending power to unit and even then i don't think it would blow a fuse. if you're talking about the hvac, then you should be able to disconnect the unit from the wire harness just in case. But if you want the peace of mind, you can pull it.

thanks! and i completely forgot that the HVAC disconnected. my new led's should be here tomorrow and i cant wait! i ordered just over 30 bucks worth so im going to be looking clean at night!
