Go ahead and do the 3" body lift. I am not getting any rubbage on the taco except on full lock turns.

Or since you have already trimmed the fender edge, go ahead and cut out and plate where it rubs.

BL would be easier though.

Not really much to see, honestly.

For those of you wondering what Sing is referring to, I was having a problem with my transfer case. The BudBuilt Clocking Ring was not allowing me to go into 4lo. After referring to Sing about what the problem could possibly be, we narrowed it down to the shift fork being off, or the shift rod contacting the transfer case adapter.

Well, Sing was right. Turned out to be the 4lo shift rod hitting the transfer case adapter.

So, the solution to this was simple. Just clearance the transfer case adapter.

Here's the clocking ring on the t-case. This is the same angle that the t-case in in the truck in.





And here's the t-case adapter. Didn't get the before pics, just after.





I took about 1/16" off the INSIDE of the top bolt on the right. Maybe 1/8". It wasn't much. I used a Dremel with a grinding cone. The t-case shifts smooth as silk now.

Weather this is a problem with the clocking ring, or my old ass transfer case, I can't tell you. But, the solution is simple as taking a Dremel to the adapter.

When I have the money up, I'm still planning on getting an Inchworm Lefty. For 2 grand, it's better than the clocking ring I'm running now. Comes with a built in "clocking ring", it's a GEAR riven case, and comes with 4.7:1 low range instead of the stock 2.8:1 ratio. My brother has one in his '99 Taco 2.7L, and that thing will crawl. He can take his foot off the clutch and it'll just roll. Very nice.

Congrats on getting 4low to work. $2k for a transfer case; I think your money would be better spent on a super charger or a v8 swap.

Here's a little tech for ya. Something that I've been wanting to do for a little bit.

Right now, I've got all my switches by my left knee. Kinda a PITMFA because every time I move, jump in the truck, or anything, I hit a switch. I broke one of the off the other day because I jumped into the truck.

I've been wanting to put the switches under the radio for some time now. Only problem is that I can't seem to find a box that I can use to put them in. So, I'm going to have to make a box. No biggie. Nothing that I haven't done before. :banana:

So, I started d¡cking around with the little thing that's under my radio. I bought it when I did my HU upgrade. It's basically a little pocket that goes under the radio so there's not a huge open gap under there.

Anyway, what I did was go to O'Rielly's, and get a whole bunch of stuff.

List:
18ga wire Red
18ga wire Black
Relay x2
Fuse block x2
Pack of 20a fuses
30a toggle switches x2
1/4" female disconnects
Sun Visor

The choice is yours as far as switches. I choose to go with switches that are RED when OFF, and GREEN when ON.

Here's some Pics. I know they're crooked. I'm tired of trying to get them to go the right way. This new ImageShack kinda sucks.....











First step was to cut the visor so that it would cover the front of the holder.



Next was to figure out where the switches are going to go. I wanted to put ALL my switches in one spot. Three for the ARBs, and three for the lights (so far).



Then I started drilling and cutting. I used a Scroll Saw to cut out the spots for the ARB switches. For the Toggle switches, I just used a step bit.

I'm going to make another box out of 18ga steel. I'm also going to make it bigger. I want ALL my switches, relays, fuses, ect to be right there. I'm going to run one power wire to the box, and one ground wire. The other wires for the lights and such will be coming out of the box off the respected relays. Everything SHOULD be nice and clean then, and I won't have some massive cluster of wires next to my fire wall.

If you look at the last two pics, the "holder" has an angled part to it. That's what's throwing off the compressor switch.

When I make the other box, I'm going to make it so that the angle goes the other way.

And those flip flops are on the way out. All I wear, besides boots. The wife HATES it.

Yu obviously saw my other switch box. Well, if you're just a picture looker, then you missed some important info.

Been working on this the past coupe days. Made a bigger switch box out of some 18ga sheet metal. It's been a fun process.

Face in place, with ARB switches mounted and two of four light switches mounted. This was just set in place to see how it would look and fit.



More work done on the box tonight.














Obviously, gots more work to do. Need to finish cleaning it up, mount my power and ground studs, then wire it all up. Also need to make a top that I an bolt on, so if a fuse or relay go bad, I can just pop it out, take the lid off, and change out said fuse or relay.

Day 3 & 4 Tech.

More pics. Everything is either shrink wrapped or has the other stuff from the connectors over it.

Sprayed it with the some Primer. Gonna shoot it with some other paint to make it a little prettier.

The two studs are for power and ground. The beauty of it is that there's only going to be two wires from under the hood to the inside. OK. well, three. One for my amp, one for the switch box power, and one for the switch box round. All the other wires are going to be behind the dash and through the head liner.

8GA power wire with a 60amp fuse, going to the studs. Studs go to the relays, and the switch, which have a 30 amp rating, and 35 amp fuse going to them. Little overkill, yeah. But worth it.

I used zip ties to identify the wires. 1 for the first switch, two for the second, so on to 4. I'm going to be using two of them right now, but will be using all four. Two front circle lights on one switch, 6x9 long range on the other, side lights on one, back light on the other.

I don't understand you power distro block. It needs to be insulated from the chassis.

The rubber grommet will deteriorate and fail in time plus you have a big bolt head that could ground out on something in your dash board.

I'm going to put some RTV or silicone over the heads of the bolts. When/if the rubber grommet fails, I just get a new one. For 3 bucks for a multi-pack, it'll be fine.

So, even thought I'm battling the misfires, I've done a couple things here and there.

Broke the back window, so did this:



Going to do the other side as well. I think it looks pretty BA.

Also worked on the rack a little bit. This is the prototype until I can buy some 1" OD tube to bend and weld.







Wired up the switch box. I'll get some pics of that up tonight when it gets dark so you can see the switches and such.
