I've actually already tested that theory.

My 3rd gen had the Thule Playpen system on it with the extension. Similar to the Megawarrior from Yakima. So, I have some experience with windnoise already.

I've driven her in excess of 80mph 2 different ways. One, with no fairing at all. Two, the way she sits.

No fairing really sucked. It sucked bad enough that there were some buyer's remorse starting. But, I told myself, "you gotta try it with the fairing on."

So, I did. I'm not trying to be biased, but, where the fairing is mounted, there was barely any windnoise at all. I couldn't really tell over the Trail Grapplers, anyway. Seriously, my wife couldn't even tell it was up there. Without the fairing, she was pretty unhappy.

It all comes down to what it will sound like with the light bar. I'll let you guys know.

Yea its going to sound like a helicopter on the hwy. It's mounted similar to having a Yakima Loadwarrior uptop. The wind channeling through that gap can get pretty loud on roadtrips.

The Yakima and Thule fairing were behind the sunroof. I'm guessing/hoping that the fairing mounted in front by the windshield will help with the aerodynamics of the front of the truck. But, seriously, if you ever wanted to play around with the fairing location, it's worth it in my opinion.

I have never been in a truck where the fairing is mounted where it was intended. I "think" the front bars of the GOBI would cause some windnoise as well if the fairing is moving air directly into the bars. But, I just need to get together with someone that has it mounted the way it was intended and go for a drive! :lookout: ANTMAN?! You out there?!

And, of course, we'll see how she sounds with a lightbar underneath, right?

I have never been in a truck where the fairing is mounted where it was intended. I "think" the front bars of the GOBI would cause some windnoise as well if the fairing is moving air directly into the bars. Of course! Whatever you need- I owe you anyway... I can tell you the wind noise I hear is from my lights mounted up there. It is loud with the sunroof open, and completely silent with it closed and the shade pulled. Whenever your ready we can make plans to get together.

Haha...quit with the owe me stuff. Really not a big deal. I really wanted that shelf of yours.

I imagine people's complaints about noise is with everything closed. I can't believe someone would expect to NOT have any noise with the sunroof open.

Another MD, VA, DC meet and greet?! maybe mod party? bbq? Great Falls, VA has some great scenery and plenty picnic options. Some good hikes and kayaking, but no wheeling.

IN. Hurry and get the Rigid LED lightbar mounted so I can check that bad boy out. Since my SW bumper will take so long, I can't stop thinking about mounting up a 40'' E-series below the Bajarackn (if it'll fit).

Ah good point, I forgot my Yakima with the extension went right up to the tip of the moonroof.

Now did you get your Gobi custom made to accomodate that 40in bar? From what I know, straight from Gobi it won't fit unless you have them custom space the mounts.

Yes, I told them I was running a 40" E series. After I got the Gobi in, I decided I wanted to mount a 40" SR instead, underneath. This is also why I don't have those vertical bars on front of the rack.

Gotta get these switches wired up. I used this relay/fuse box kit from Painless Wiring. It's a really nice set up.

I had mentioned earlier that I did not have the cross bar in the GOBI. This is what I meant. I did keep the front so that nothing would slide into the moonroof area. Kinda keeps everything boxed in.
