Duratrac load rating C or D

Where can I find the Duratracs with the load rating "C" or "D" in 285/75/r16? I can only find them with an "E" load rating. My search skills suck. If somebody can help me out, or send me a link I'd be great full!!

I'm looking for the C or D rating because I've read that the "E" load rating gives a rougher ride. If somebody with the "E" rating can confirm this that would be great too.

Unfortunately, most 285/75-16 tires will be E rated.

Yup no 285 in E unless you get a 285/70/17.

One key to smoothing out the ride is to still run them at the recommended pressure of your stock tires and NOT the "max pressure" stated on the sidewall of the tire.

Actually a tire with a larger volume of air (ie, bigger tire) will carry the same load at a lower pressure.

Really? It seems like common sense that a 6 ply tire at 36psi would ride smoother than a 10 ply tire at 45psi, I would say it's fact, rather than debunked. If the vehicle is much heavier than a 3rd gen it wouldn't be affected the same way, like a 1 ton truck might ride better with 10 ply tires.

Do you have a link to a thread that offers evidence to the contrary?

I have 285/75/16 Duratracs in E and it's really not as bad as some have said! I don't mind it and wouldn't change it for anything. I run around stock tire air pressure in them too cause otherwise they're way too hard. Yes, it's a rougher ride but it's nothing crazy or uncomfortable. We drive lifted rigs w/ aggressive tires... our rigs are going to ride like trucks

For me my E weighted 285's at 38 PSI ride as nice as C weight 265's at 32 PSI.

But... I have much better control with the thicker sidewalls and will never put anything less that a D weight tire on my Runner or wife's Tacoma after experiencing both sides of the tire weight issue.

Another happy "E" Range owner here. I run E's on my '01 @ 36psi and I'm very happy with them.

On my '97 I ditched the C range tires too... I went with 265/75 D's this time and I notice no difference in the ride compared to the C's @ 34psi.

IMHO the ride characteristics of your 4Runner will be determined more by the suspension setup than the load range of the tire. If you run a stiff OME setup, you're going to feel a stiffer tire sidewall more than you would if you were running a SS 1.2, so on and so on...

On the rough ride issue it depends on the driver as "rough" is construed different by many drivers. IMO a real test is when older people ride in your truck and ask them what rough feels like.
I've been in a 3rd gen shod with BFG KO's in the E load and thye are definelty a stiffer ride around town on uneven pavement and surface streets at slower speeds compared to the D load Nittos I had and my current C load rated Duratracs.

I completely agree. I've had several sets of BFG AT's and this is my first set of E load tires and it is noticeably different to me as well.
