Sooo...getting the Duratracs installed tomorrow! I get an additional $10 per tire rebate due to my wife's employment as long as I use a Goodyear Service center. They are matching $253 a tire, there are $120 rebates through Goodyear with the use of their credit card (just going to charge for the savings and immediately pay off the balance), and my additional $40 in rebates. This with my used Duratrac I am getting off someone on CL puts me with 5 285/70/17 Duratracs for just over $1000. I think I did pretty good on this deal. It's like Xmas eve for me right now....I can sleep. It doesn't help that I am worried about them fitting without LR UCAs...

Thought I should point out, that is the installed price @ $17 a tire for mount, balance, etc...
So after reading this thread yesterday, I decided to go and see what my local Discount Tire could do for me. I told them that rumor had it Sam's club was selling for $250 per tire, give or take. The guy said alrighty, how about we do $240? So of course I said "sold". Swapped my 265 duratracs for 285's. My 265's are for sale if anyone is interested. Just drop me a line. $500 obo for the set!

Got the Duratracs on this morning...here are some teaser pics.

The tire shop jacked up my plasti-dip, but that was expected. Once I can Fix that I will get some real pics posted.
Nobody should ever be concerned with road noise with these tires. If I didn't know to listen for a difference, I would not have even noticed. Just a slight hum (very slight) once you hit 40-50 mph or so. I think I need to put more air in the tires as I checked them with my digital gauge and the shop only put 35 PSI...please correct me if I am wrong, but I should probably be around 44-45psi with these D load tires?
Nothing new or different to report about rubbing. Rubs front fender liner at full lock in reverse to the right. Clears body mount by a an inch or more...so it looks like my +2 caster won't cause me too much trouble.
Can't wait to get some legitimate wheeling under my belt!

You'll like the tires. I purchased a set right after the first time I tool my new 4runner off the pavement. The Bridgstones totally slipped all over the place. I have 20,000 miles on mine, purchased at Discount Tire. I rotate them religiously, as recently as last weekend. The Discount Tire rep. is amazed how little wear they have.

You read my mind. I am concerned on what problems spacers will bring figment wise. Seems like I always read that if there is any rubbing at all, the problem is increased with the addition of spacers. I may just ride it out until I have enough jack for either the Black Rhino Imperials like yours Qjake or the Method MR301 like KC. That may be a while though....my son is due in less than 2 months, so my 4runner budget is pretty tapped out for a while I think.

I get the best overall ride at 45 psi. Your "E" rated set will easily handle the extra pressure. Your MPG will increase as you increase the psi in your tires. However, your ride will suffer a little.

These tires are "D" load rating...that's the only rating I found 285/70/17 Duratracs in. Is the general consensus still to run at 45 psi or so?

Sorry, thought I read "E"... The overall pressure is personal preference, as long as you stay within the recommended manufacturer guidelines, not going over the maximum. Try running the tires at 40 psi and see if you like the ride.
Interesting to see you have 285/70/17 duratracs "E" load range tires since Goodyear only claims to make load range "D" in the 285/70/17 DuraTrac.

If you buy four new tires from a tire dealer, they should mount and balance for free. I have had three sets of Michelins over the years, the last set being late 2011 and I never paid a dime for this. Now if you want the road hazard warranty, that is always extra. I dealt directly with a michelin dealer and their price was a good as SAM's etc.
