Duratracs own the snow!! (pics included)

Just got back from Mammoth and it was the first time I've gotten to use the Goodyear Duratracs in serious snow. We decided to drive up during one of the worst storms in years... not smart but worth it for fresh powder. Chains or 4wd with snow tires were mandatory, needless to say the chains were never needed. I've never felt so sure footed on the snow, and this was deep snow. I passed numerous cars and a truck (Tacoma) stuck on the side of the road.

If you ever have to drive in the white stuff, I HIGHLY recommend these tires. Anyhow, on to the pics:

The one thing that annoys me is the snow that builds up on the rear doors after you take the running boards off. I thought that it was just because my front cheap-o flaps couldn't do the trick, but now I see even the large OEM ones have trouble keeping the buildup to a minimum

Yeah,the fenderbergs suck and will become just a chunk of ice if they aren't removed.

Yeah, which is also a pain in the ass. A few good cycles of opening the door then slamming it shut gets rid of most of that crap. Did you have to paint your hubs?

Sorry for thread jacking to the OP... but that looks like a ton of snow. I've heard a lot of good things about those Duratracs. Also, what kind of exhaust do you have?

No,the hubs aren't painted and am just waiting for spring to repaint my center caps.

Yea i was in the white stuff yesterday, i was doing as good if not better then my buddys bronco on 35 bgf mts( he was having locker troubles) pulled out a jeep GC that got stuck, hes got some mts to, not sure what kind. i was plowing through 1-2ft of powder like it wasnt even there. they are awesome. i was VERY impressed.

Magnaflow If I remember correctly, it was on the truck when I bought it. Sounds pretty good under acceleration, but drones on the highway.

Man, that thing is beautiful! Is that the stock height of the Highlander or are you running a lift? I have an 99 SR5 on OEM suspention and it doesnt look at high as yours.

It's got the taller stock coils which came on a good portion of '99 models and it sits at just over 36" ground to fender lip.
All the Highlanders had the taller coils and then it was hit and miss on the SR5s and Limiteds but most Limiteds had the regular coils.

i agree. Duratracks rock in the snow. They are also much better than my old Michelins in the rain
