Factory (style) Fog Light Switch- Fits knock-out!

Maybe this is the place to ask...

Somewhat random question...

Has anyone found a switch that fits in the factory knock-out slot that is a Dual Poll Dual Throw non-momentary?

I know there are some out there for winches (spool in and out), but those are momentary.

What I am trying to do: I have some ambient interior lights setup in my 4Runner. I want to be able to either relay them off the ignition switch (pole 1) OR turn them on manually from constant power (pole 2). If there is a middle option for "OFF", then I would consider it a bonus.

Right now I have them setup on a relay that comes on when the ignition is on, but I want to be able to turn them on without the key in the ignition for camping.

I haven't come across any DPDT switches that are a direct fit, they're either SPST latching or SPST momentary.

It might be possible to source a mini rocker switch such as the 260 series

ROCKER SWITCHES by SIGMA | SPDT SPST DPST DPDT Momentary, Lighted, Waterproof & Miniature (Mini)

You might be able to cut an opening in factory knock out and mount switch to it.

Well, I had to try. I appreciate the info! I have some Cole Hersee switches in my toolbox that I may just mount out of site.

Cheers!

I saw that but was hoping someone was able to get it to work.

It's not that they won't work... the switches won't fit in the factory knock-out. Why not order from the brands that will fit; this thread is full of them e.g., AOB, slee off-road...etc. Trust me, you'll be far happier by doing it the right way,

cheers!

AOB to rigid light bar w/ backlighting

I have this same harness it has the following wires running to included switches

i bought two AOB switches i'd like to install to replace the two rigid harness switches for the clean look. I prefer to not tap into the factory lights and have the light bar operate completely independently. I'm having trouble connecting the rigid harness to the AOB switch harness (pic'd below) Can you help me with the wiring?
*sorry if duplicate can't seem to find a clean diagram

For the blue and black wire, you will need to tap from any existing oem switch already plugged. This powers the back light and provides the ground. Green wire needs to go to an activation source... since you want it to be activated soley by the switch and not with "high beams" for example, you can use an add-a-fuse and find a hot fuse slot to use as you activation (whether car started or not). I recommend using a multimeter and finding a slot, I forgot which but there is a empty fuse slot. OR you can tap into another source like a cigarette port or something. Red goes to your relay... sorry for this quick write; im on my phone and its 12am. [emoji28]

Thanks for the quick reply, i thought since the existing switches from rigid are not tapped in to any oem wiring then shouldn't i be connect rigid harness to AOB switch without any additional wiring to OEM components or adding an additional fuse...there is a 20a fuse inline on the rigid wiring harness as well?

Are you running a relay as well or does the switch go from [battery -> fuse -> switch ->light]? The AOB switch works little differently as the green "activates" the switch to use, the red triggers the relay to push power, blue to turn the back light on and black to ground. Not entirely sure if you could reuse the three wires but the negative.

Is your rigid wiring like this? If so you might be able to reuse them.

yes works like that, relay is inline with the AOB switch. the difficulty is the LED light bar has two switches one for the back lighting on the lightbar and one for the LED spot lights. here is a pic of what i'm working with. you can see the red and black run to both switches.

Ah ok, so the red and black are power/ground and the blue/silver is for back light/main light. Are you trying to run two AOB switches, one for back light and one for main? If not you may need to, to gain benefits to both. Run like the first diagram i posted but each switch goes to the intended blue or silver wire. You will still need a trigger source ie a fuse slot, cigarette port, etc and the back lighting which could run off the same source as the trigger or you can tap the oem buttons.

That's right i bought two switches, one for the backlight and one for LED spot lights. Can you dumb it down for me and give me specific (AOB )color to (Rigid) color + what of each runs to fuse slot?

I suck at wiring. However, got my ditch lights hooked up, but cant figure out where to hook up the wire that illuminates the switch.

Any help is appreciated.

The switch in the picture is the rigid industries wire harness for a 30inch light found here
https://www.rigidindustries.com/installation-accessories/40193

however i prefer the buttons to match the dash so i purchased some from AOB here:

i just have figured out how to wire them up yet :)
Sorry have been really busy these past couple days will get some pictures and try to help you guys out!
