Finger vs Utility knife....

I am posting my idiot mistake as a reminder to others not to be careless. I decided I would be lazy and use a utility knife to cut a hole for an additional switch instead of getting my dremel out because I didn't want to walk 50ft to my garage. Well, if you feel like you are putting too much pressure on a knife and it isn't cutting you should STOP!

Knife slipped...cut my extensor tendon on my left index finger. Luckily it wasn't a very bad cut and the initial repair was able to be done in ER by the hand surgery team...hoping I don't need further surgery.

Learn from my mistake...don't be stupid.

I welcome any "I told you so" type comments as I deserve them.

Glad you weren't more injured. I've definitely busted my knuckles because I thought I could get by with the wrong wrench because I was too lazy to get the right one.

Nah, I think the " I told you so" will be whenever you try to tie your shoes, or get dressed every day. We all do something stupid sooner or later, just glad to hear they were able to fix what you done. Hope for a speedy recovery and no lose of movement, good luck!

We have all been there at one time or another. I can remember plenty of times while cutting something, thinking, I need to stop before I cut myself using this knife the wrong way. I've got a few scars from those times.

Hope you heal up quick! All the positive attitudes on here certainly will help!

You're not alone. I was trying to put a small cut in a spool of fishing line to have a place to keep the line when I was done...and my knife slipped and caught my thumb. Severed my extensor tendon as well.

Been there..
I was cutting a impact gun box to convert into a tool box. I went all around removing internal molding and last inch... put too much force on knife and it slipped and landed on my right hand thumb, cutting about 1/2 inch.

Now, I hate sharp knifes.... never use those any more.... so far so good.

Used a mandolin to cut some veggies without the safety handle. I won't do that again. It clipped a big chunk of my nail off too, also got a small portion of my middle finger too.

Worst part about it, I didn't have non-stick gauze at the house, so I wrapped it in what I had, a few days later I needed to replace the gauze with some nonstick and ripped the entire scab off.
