Sold my v8 gas hog gmc Yukon and purchased a 1998 4runner base with the 2.7l 4cyl., got it cheap but paid the price in the long Run. Odometer says 157k not sure how many miles it actually has, had back tags to 2012, guy I bought it from put current tags on it. But other than that it needs a new hood, driver headlight and possibly a fender none of which I can find in white. I will attach a photo.

What next?

I got a bunch of spare square tubing laying around, gonna try to build a bumper out of it temporarily being as the one on there is too heavy and badly damaged. I have tall shocks off of a 99 limited and a 3" spacer to put on the front. Got these tires after I bought it, originally had 225/75/16 mismatched tires that make going on the freeway feel like taking part in a lesbian orgy. Surprisingly it has working cruise control (the factory one not the one that is a kit), and runs very very good! did an oil change changed spark plugs! got new mats and seat covers. Anything I should take a not of?

Well for starters welcome! Not to sure what your planning on doing but would def do an all around suspension lift and not just a spacer lift up front if your going that big. Also 4cyl is pretty slow from what I've heard but if you want easy mods look up the deck plate and isr mod and some led interior lights maybe. Just wondering but why do you need a new hood and stuff if it looks pretty clean? also take off running boards way better

I already put led interior lighting, need to do led vac still, the hood is badly damaged and the fender doesn't line up correctly, as demonstrated in this photo.
I half fixed the grille.

couldn't agree more regarding the suspension lift. I just finished (2.5 hours ago, took 13 hours) installing my 3" OME lift with procomp 9000 rear shocks and 6000 front shocks. The OME lift had a spacer for the front but all around suspension feels great. You will LOVE having new springs and shocks, even if you think the currents ones are good enough.

Maybe look at the sport hoods? And maybe if your going to be ding any wheeling a new bumper not just a stock one?

Thanks everyone for the input, I appreciate it. I am getting better shocks than it have on here currently, until I can afford bill stein or king. I am looking for a sport hood, can't find a reasonably priced one. I am building a bumper for the front with the help of my brother. I will post pics how it turns out in the future.

Lift

I now have a 1.5 inch day star metal spacer for front and longer coils, shorter coils for back and 3" day star spacer, bill stein shocks as well.

Here is how it came out, bilstein Trd stock shocks and big coils with a 1" spacer in front and big coils and a 2.5 day star spacer in the rear.
