Honestly, the reason I don't think it's the pad is that it shouldn't squeal, even with pad/rotor contact. That's a different sound. Metal/metal is generally where you get the squeal (hence dust shield or pad spring/rotor contact being my guesses).

Can you guys hear that??? No, you can't, because I finally found the source of the screech! So it turns out, yes it was the dust shield. But it was a section you had to have the wheel off to see.
Took the passenger side wheel off, cause that's where the noise sounded like it was coming from. Top of the caliper, the very bottom of the dust shield. Pried it away from the rotor...all clear now.
While I was at it I cleaned and adjusted the drums, and rebled all four brakes. Stops like a dream now.
