Formidable 2002 Thundercloud Sport TRD Supercharged Version 2.0

Thx! Yes the wing will be removed and refinished in Thundercloud. The hatch is an SSR-G so it’s no different than the one presently on the truck. The wing and hatch were picked up locally off craigslist. Will get the Nguyen Works high clearance rear bumper and swing out at some point to finish off the rear end.

That is awesome!! I'm assuming you're going to have it re-finished in thundercloud? This is going to look awesome. Now all ya need is the spare tire carrier!

Did you get it off of ebay Japan?

Picked up an LED third brake light with smoke lens for the Hilux Surf power rear mirror spoiler. Very difficult to find. Spoiler is at the shop getting color matched Thundercloud Metallic.

Really love your builds man. I was looking at this one after looking up your old 4th gen build. I've had 2 3rd gens and if I were to do another it'd be pretty similar.

Unicorn installed.

Hilux surf 185 power rear mirror spoiler color matched and mounted. Also mounted smoke led third brake light on the spoiler and a red lens led third brake light on the hatch.

Unicorn acquired. Hilux surf hatch with power rear mirror spoiler.

Haha...I have the same hatch sitting in my parents garage. Never finished installing it before I sold my runner. It came from your neck of the woods too. I paid a grip just to get it shipped over here too. Nice acquisition though. I like the direction you're taking this build.

That's pretty spiffy, be nice to see these on the US trim one day.

Where are you located? Do you have the swing out? That thing is rare AF. You should sell it!

Here we go! And... another one! I’m a sucker for JDM style!

Genuine Revier LED turn signal and daytime running light mirrors with puddle lamps already color matched Thundercloud Metallic from factory!

Formidable This is excellent! Great attn to detail.

Where'd you end up finding the mirrors?

Thx!

PM me. Depending on year and color (the later 99-02 have the same mirrors I believe), I may be able to get them for you.

Attempted to install these LED mirrors today... 3h and a bunch of cuss words later the passenger side is on, albeit not yet wired up. The screws holding the internals in are super soft and held in with dabs of lock tight from Toyota. In addition, need to cut OEM harness to get the wires through the grommet and solder back together. Will tint the lenses smoke xpel ultimate when everything is done.

Yeah I have to full swing out setup. I never got around to doing the whole thing on my former 3rd gen. I'm in Houston. Just not alot of 3rd gen love around here. A lot of my parts been sitting for sale for a while lol...

Looks solid. Wouldn’t mind doing that but I don’t know if I want to dedicate 6 hrs to the install. Did the drivers side go faster since you had it figured out? How much time did you spend on the loctite nail removal?

Driver side went faster after learning the ropes on the passenger side. I had to use a drill and screw extractor to get one of the three screws out under the mirror on each side. Also a major time suck was figuring out how to get the wiring through. Eventually fed through the OEM swivel grommet. Not much space and need to be careful with the 20 year old OEM wiring/harness.

Install time is significant but I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Overall the quality is OEM as you would expect to see from a part made in Japan. No time wasted there. Direct fit for the OEM mirror internals once transferred over. Even comes color matched and cleared from factory, (albeit only a handful of colors). The set just adds the LED DRL, turn signals, and puddle lamps. Surprisingly lots of compliments even though only on the truck for a few days. Unique mod instantly recognizable as custom/JDM by 4runner/Tacoma owners. Given the age of the 3rd gen, this part is discontinued. I’m working on bringing a few sets stateside. If interested send me a PM. Obviously once these are gone... gone for good.
