Front not level from left to right

Hi folks, I have ICON coilovers in the front and I have to push down the coil ring significantly lower to "lift" the left-front side to make it level to the right-front side.

I don't feel any issue in driving, but it's been a concern for me. Did I do something wrong? I know the battery is on left side, but I doubt the weight of the battery can do this much.

Oh, the ground where the vehicle parked is level.

Thanks!

Is your gas tank full? It's on the driver's side as well and a full tank can make it lean a little to the left. I think ARB even has a small spacer they include in their OME kits for the front driver's side shock.

Hey, thanks.
It's about 3/4 tank full. But my rear is relatively level and tank is closer to rear.

Do you have the same springs on both sides? Maybe you got a spring with a different rate (however unlikely that is). The other question would be do you have the reservoirs filled properly with the same fluid? might be that one of your shocks dampens more than the other.

Just some thoughts.

Okki

Looks like the stop collars are in different positions from left to right. If you even them up it might level you out.

Thanks guys.

The coilovers are ordered in pair, so I don't think they are different unless one of them has some defect, which seems unlikely.

Mine are the same way.
Good to know!

Actually I have to set the collars in different positions to level me out. And that's my question, why I have to do this to level me out?

I know this might be too late to ask, but was there any measurable unevenness with the stock front suspension setup installed? Perhaps there was always a bit of driver's side lean straight from the factory and maybe you are trying to make it "too" perfectly leveled, if that makes sense?

I don't have much experience with our 4runner suspensions at all but a ~30mm coil height difference seems to be quite a lot. I only say this because I think the OME spacers someone above mentioned are ~10mm :)

I checked some "before" measurements, there was about 1/4" lower in driver side. Nowhere near over 1". You've got a good point though.

I have an FJ and we have the same prob. 2 full turns more on the drivers side.
2 full turns make sense, my countless turns seem don't.:noidea:

Are you sure everything is installed correctly? Is the coil seated the same on both sides, or could it be caught on something on the right side, or pushed through something on the left side?

There are only so many things that might be causing the issue and we a rapidly running out of suspension related ones. Have you had any good or repeated impacts on the truck that might have skewed the frame?

How are you determining the "levelness" of the truck? Are you sure about the accuracy of that measurement and you are not chasing an optical illusion?

Okki

It's probably the most obvious answer but have you contacted ICON? While this address the issue, I would want it to either A) work right or B) get a good explaination for why it's like this...

I'm gonna take the wheel off and re-examine the installation this weekend.

The frame should be fine, checked by the shop.

I used the measure tape to measure the height of the flare on each side, I don't trust eyeballing either.

No, haven't contacted ICON yet, will do.

Thanks for all the inputs, guys.

Did you measure the height of the flare from the center of the hub or from the floor? If you measured from the floor, are you are exactly the same tire pressure now as when you took your starting measurement? If you are measuring from the hub, you should be accurate in terms of comparable measurements.

I have a write up in my build thread on how to measure suspension height and overall vehicle height.

Okki

Contact icon with this issue. Perhaps its a known problem people dont care to fix. It could be the steel for the spring settling. Not all steel id of same quality and strength.

I just readjusted mine two weeks back and yes more turns on the left but yours seems a bit extreme. The tape marks were they came set from Icon when installed and were they were set for the last year. I was low on the left by 3/4" before adjusting, IIRC it was 3 more tuns on the left.

Thanks!

Looking closely, it appears that the right side shock flange is not properly seated in the shock tower. Even the right side bolt threads don't come through as far as the ones in the photo of the left side (could just be an optical illusion on my part).

Perhaps the 1 on the right just needs to be turned/seated?? Does anyone else see what I'm seeing? I think I'd grab a flashlight and take a look up in the tower to see if it's properly seated.

rig, cheers
