Front Runner Rack Options

Has anyone else gone with the extended 3/4 rack and have a sunroof? I don't mind having it blocked a little bit... can anyone who has this combo comment on the amount of wind noise with the sunroof open and closed?

It won't block anything, you can't even see it from the driver's seat. It does seem like there is slight wind noise when driving into strong headwinds, but other than that I've been pleasantly surprised (especially since it hasn't seemed to hurt my MPG at all).

He has pics and had a vibration issue, but also explains how he solved it.

Awning size

Hey guys,
Who has an awning on their 3/4 rack? and which size are you running? debating between a 6.5x6.5 (arb2000) or 8.5x6.5 (arb2500). I have front runner brackets, the sunseeker one but I'm sure I can mcgyver something.
I appreciate the feedback :)

I have the 3/4 FR rack and the "2000" ARB awning, mounted w/ the brackets sold by FR themselves. I love the setup and actually just put the awning back on this evening for an upcoming trip in 2 weeks.

I can text pictures if you need. PM for the number.

DannyLlama sorry it took so long. Just put my skybox back on today for extra storage with all of our family coming in to town. The key is really to loosen the clamps so they are at “full droop”. In the pics I also took some of the inside so you could approximate where the setup would be. Let me know if you have any other questions.

This is what they look like fully clamped. You can see they they don’t wrap all the way around but are completely tight (I can push and pull on the skybox moving the whole car without it budging). I’ve travelled thousands of miles with it, on and off-road and never had issues.

Quick question. In the box with the nuts and bolts are two black adhesive backed pads. No clue where those go other than to think under the wind deflector in case it rubs the roof? I’ve looked over the directions and various videos but nothing specific.

They go on the flat surface of the wind deflector, between it and the rack when installing. It’s used as a vibration damper.

Thanks man, i appreciate the follow up and the photos. I have the biggest skybox, so i would be afraid of it coming off in high winds or fast breaking situations. The fact that it doesn't clamp all the way around the bars seems unsafe. But i will take your word that it fastens securely. So no issues at all?

thank you

None. Driven cross country (California-Maryland-Florida), up to Maryland several times a year and up to Vermont for Skiing every winter (all from South Florida), traveling I95 averaging 75+ mph. Taken it off roading, fully loaded with camping gear and not a budge.
Edit: I do tighten the the screws that adjust the clamps to the point where you can barely lock the clamps down...super tight).

Just installed my rack Sunday. I'm sticking with my Yakima. I sometimes have 5 boards up with me so I need the capacity. Had to remove a couple slats in the FR rack to make space for the bindings. I don't see how you can have the clearance for a second board with bindings on the FR snow rack.

Hey how did you attach the fatcat to the frontrunner rack?

Stopped by Front Runner today and they installed the new rack and light bar. So happy with this rack. Glad I waited did my research on all the various rack manufacturers before going with Front Runner. This is the right set up for my needs.

Going to start attaching all my accessories tomorrow.

That's exactly the set up im looking for!
Looks awesome! from the picture looks like the light is tilted down? and how well does the light bar work since its so far back ?

Installed one this week, took a bit of time to fashion some spacers but it all went together nicely. Thanks to Front Runner and Gabex35 for the assistance. This is with 3x 40mm feet and 1x pair of 50mm.

My table fits but contacts the top of the low-pro antenna which I was prepared for. Some spacers for the rear should clearance it, I can update with a solution if anyone is interested.

For some reason I'm getting an error when trying to load photos.. anyone else having an issue there?

Edit: got the image to upload, weird.
