Gear shift knob change

Gotta revive this one. I have my rock warrior shift knob on it's way and want to make sure I have the right set screw. I stopped in at Home Depot, and picked up some different length set screws, all 8mm. But that refers the the width, I really should have though of the thread size. How can I order the set screw that I need to make this shifter work?

The engineer in me is thinking of a threaded plug with a hex socket so that you can use an allen wrench to screw it into the knob. This would then fill in the void needed to prevent the knob from bottoming out. Something like this, with a driver bit depression... However, the socket, I imagine, would be super small.

for the 4th gen I had to cut my FJ knob down (alot) It looks like you do not have to on my 5th gen.....?

That's the same set screw problem I had with my Momo knob when I had it. The solution I used was to wrap aluminum tape around the shaft where the set screws were to grab the shaft. I cut about a 1/2' wide piece and wrapped it around the shaft to gain the necessary diameter just where the set screws hit. Here's the type of tape although we use the much more expensive 3M brand and in the aircraft world we know it as "speed tape" or 500mph tape. If you really want to get longer set screws an you have to make sure the thread pitch matches the 1.25mm ,here they are..... Metric set screws, Allen, Cup point, Stainless steel 18-8, 8mm x 1.25mm - Bolt Depot

I'm in the same boat... specific set screw you used that was successful?

I'm planning to use something like this: M8 x 1.25 6mm set screw

Hope these pics help! To make sure it didn't hit the base, I took the easy way out and inserted two pencil eraser tips before screwing it on. It seems pretty secure and haven't had an issues since installing. Love it so far!

The set screw is exactly what I needed in order to fit the Rock Warrior TRD shift knob like OEM...

I used a M8-1.25 x 8mm set screw and a long allen key to lock it in place. The third picture below is at its tightest and sits perfect. I highly encourage this knob. PM me for questions!

This part fits the following vehicles:

This part fits the following vehicles:

Toyota: Tundra 2007 - 2015

sadly I like my faux wood gear shift knob.

bought a momo blue shift knob for the warden to match her upcoming new Tacoma.

it fits her current Tacoma but the adapters and what not turns me off. I would like if it was a drop in replacement.

she likes the color and I guess that's all that matters. me bleh, the feel even feels wrong imo.
