GX470 or stick with the Runner?

Having bad throttle response is not desireable in any vehicle. Now, if toyota set that up so it only worked when in 4L, i would agree with you, that would be kinda cool.

The drag time difference does sound dumb, i agree. I never said it made the truck faster. Those guys did, but yea...

When was the last time you drove an old car with direct throttle?

It's been a while. As I said, I don't have bad throttle response. I press the throttle, the vehicle reacts. Having to move the throttle through a long range of travel to get the response I want doesn't equate to bad throttle response. There is no way this device removes any drive by wire "delay" - it's not possible:

Sprint Booster modifies the signal between the accelerator pedal module and the electronic throttle body.

If anything it increases the delay by adding extra circuitry, though I doubt human perception could notice. The only thing this device changes is the amount of throttle input required to achieve a desired effect. Americans traditionally have liked their cars set-up with more initial throttle dump per pedal travel. A lot of the older muscle cars had the throttle open about 90% in the first 50% of travel. This isn't related to the drive by wire, its a difference in the way a throttle is set-up. Generally speaking, a car with a more linear throttle response will not feel as quick as one set-up with a strong initial throttle dump.

If you like it, enjoy it. I never said it was "stupid" or similar derogatory comments. I said "not for me".

Got both

I have both the GX470 w/ KDSS and the T4R. Both are 4x4. Wife drives the GX now.

From an engine/torque perspective the GX wins though HP is about equal.

I am tall (6'4") and the T4R has way more leg room/width and is much more comfortable to drive long distance. For someone shorter, it's a toss-up as the GX does have more luxury.

I've modified my suspension on the T4R so the ride is way better than the GX, though stock vs. stock the rides are comparable.

I have had the 2006 GX new since 2005 and it has been great. No problems and was 4x4 of the year for two years, so it is a capable truck that you can modify.

One thing to note is that I would NOT buy a GX that doesn't have KDSS. It sways like hell as it is very top heavy and KDSS does wonders for this. All the new GX460's come with KDSS stock and is basically a fully automated T4R with a V8.

Awesome Feedback. I had narrowed it down to a KDSS only model based on all the research I had done on that model.

Stick to KDSS as that version GX470 is more like a luxury trail edition T4R (though without crawl control , etc...). You are comparing 2005 technology vs. 2010 but it is amazing how close they are. Biggest thing difference also is that the audio, albeit good, doesn't have all the features of a 2010 vehicle.

I am looking at the 2007 - 2009 model which got the nav/audio upgrade so hopefully they are a bit closer. I have a 2011 w/o Nav so my audio functions are limited but can still stream BT & iPod interface which I would miss. I am guessing the sound in the GX is much better, right?

I might be getting older but the leather/heated seats felt pretty nice compared to my cloth/water res. I have.

I have leather & heated seats in the T4R, though the leather is better in the Lexus.

I have the full rear entertainment system with levinson audio in the GX, but they didn't have BT at the time. I did add the capability to play ipod/mp3 through the stock nav/audio head.

Biggest item for me though is the legroom - just sucks for the driver for long drives (3+ hours) vs. the T4R. Again, not an issue if your small.

In the end it really comes down to what you need it for and both are great!

...one other thing

on the GX, if you go that route, check the shocks as I had to replace mine all around due to leaks. After 70K the braking started to feel off and the truck shimmied while braking at speeds of 50-60 mph. Have tried a million things to fix it but the problem still exists.

Other than that, no real issues.

Did you just call me small? Ha, I am actually but how did you know? I read on some forums that if the rotors get turned during a brake service on the GX you will get that shimmy almost every time. Also, the AHC terrifies me so hearing you had it go out at 70k miles is worrisome.
