Headlight adjusting plastic clips broke

Well, long story short I noticed my head light wasn't working well and so I read up on the adjustment screws. When I went in to adjust them I realized this part had broken in both the upper and lower adjustment sections

. Now I'm stuck and have no way to secure my headlight in due to two pieces of plastic. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how in the @&&@@ to fix this? I've googled everything and the problem isn't the screws it's that little SOB that the screws are suppose to connect to. Please help I'm going onto 4 hours of research and coming up empty handed.

Can these parts even be purchased? I need the exact same part as you never want to adjust these headlights when they are old. :-( Or I am stuck buying an entire headlight for these adjuster parts as it seems the rust belt is a little hard on the plastic and the metal screw adjuster.

As good old Tetanus 1 has a old empty rule of electrical tape and silicone holding the headlight adjuster together. :D

The Dealership doesnt even have these parts listed in their diagrams and I went into toyodiy.com and found the headlight just see that part listed
found the bolt with washer
Headlight assembly nut
and the grommet for the side marker push pin but sure seem to be coming up negative on those adjusters and those holding plastic grommets.

Anybody have them or know of a A/M source for new ones?
 
I too, need to repair mines as mines are broke right at that spot.
I wanna say that it its the headlight bearing 81128-22630. I can not confirm this as no Toyota dealerships has this in my area and need 3-4 days to order this off state. If this is not a good number then, only way to repair getting a replacement headlight bucket at the recycle yard or online Toyota parts.
1997+ left hl bucket 81106-35211
1997+ right hl bucket 81105-35231
 
Sorry, they can not be purchased. I just got done dealing with this. I searched the internet, parts diagrams, the dealer, etc. The dealer only sells the parts you need as part of the whole headlamp assembly which is expensive. I ended up buying new headlights (headlamp assemblies)made by a company called TYC and they are very solid. Rockauto and Amazon sell them for less than $40.00 each. These lights are listed for 99 and later 3rd gens but will fit the earlier year 3rd gens. I think that Toyota switched to much better headlights on 4runners after 98. This was a pretty good upgrade in my 97 for under $100. Here's the Rockauto part numbers if you are interested in taking this route.

Also, it is not the headlight bearing. It does look like it on some parts diagrams though. My dealer actually had that part and it is not it.
 
I was thinking a headlight bearing may or may not be it. I really dont what to replace perfectly good no water vapor headlights because a few pieces of plastic have issues.

Mostly Toyota has every little part with a part number or an A/M replacement is available.

I can get a headlight bearing and see if that's it. It's just very odd the the adjusters are not sold separately. As this entire adjuster is like 3 or 4 pieces with a nut.


Worst case I fabricate a replacement. However, I rather not if at all possible. :)

Even if you ordered the headlamp units or the headlamp housing sub-assemblies that pivot part isn't included.
I'm going to get to the bottom of this and hopefully report back in a couple of days.

I just went to the mfg site and parts like this arent listed.

I noticed this clip isnt there on the online diagrams.

I know it's not the grommet that is used for the side marker to plug into. ;)

Just go to a junkyard and buy a light with a busted glass. Cost you maybe $5. TYC parts work fine in OEM housings, BTW.
 
The "bearing" is used 3x per headlamp. There is 1 point on the sub assemblies and 2 points on the headlamp that require this part.
That part is listed at needing set of 6 pieces to complete, 3 per side.

If I went to a junkyard here they all be rusted worse then what I got. :) As I looked at my parts mobile headlights and said not touching those as they bust..:D

Good to know but I dont think that's the part in this thread picture. Or am I misunderstanding?
