Headlights suck

The improvement is pretty considerable at night. Leave one bulb in and swap the other bulb and use a towel to cover one headlight at a time you will see there is significant difference.

Well this was daylight when I left one bulb in and replace the other and the H9 actually look like it wasn't as bright or had as much coverage. LOL

But yeah I'll definitely test it at night. Anything will be better than what it was. Lol

I upgraded my low beams to LEDs. It does matter what LEDs you get, and you do get what you pay for. These particular LEDs outperform the factory setup. I do not get flashed by anyone on the road. Check out their LED comparison videos (look at the GTR Lighting Ultra 2). I was completely impressed. Driving at night feels way safer now that I can adequately see.

Well got to drive it at night and it's a huge improvement. I don't need to run my fog lights anymore. LOL

I guess because it follows the same beam pattern either way it wasn't as noticeable in the day. But definitely more noticeable at night. Think I might go for a ride tonight like I used to before I got this truck. Lol

Any chance you can take some pics or video comparing before and after? I'm truly curious how much the improvement is, especially in the foreground where you used to fill in with the fogs.

There are a bunch of photos on the Forum with comparisons so I didn't take any. But I was truly impressed with how it didn't look much different in the daylight but at night you could really tell the difference. I'm really blown away. I don't think pictures do it justice.

The fog's definitely still light up directly in front better. But the headlights are so bright they're really not necessary.
The beem cut off is perfect for not blinding oncoming traffic. But if I was to carry any load with the 4R I may adjust them down a little bit.

If this bulb last for at least a year I'll totally do it instead of upgrading headlights.

Can you snap a pic what it looks like under the cover? I know its fan cooled, my question since its a closed housing, where does the heat go? Do the run hot? thanks

I don't know how hot they get, and I am happy about the lifetime warranty (need to read the details of that), but they fit easily. I do wonder how hot they get especially inside the enclosure.

Thanks, did you have to adjust the alignment? One video said its needed and another said its perfect out of the box

Unless you want to spend a lot of money on completely new LED headlights I can completely recommend doing the H11 to H9 bulb swap. Do a search here for how it's done, it really is easy, very inexpensive and the improvement is very noticeable.

Ive done the H9 swap and tried a set of LEDs Lasfit. Whenever the roads are wet or if it's raining I may as well close my eyes. I cant see the road. Is it possible from the factory the beams are aimed too high? Its freaking scary when you cant see in crappy conditions.

I just purchased a 2016 and I wish I had test driven it at night, I honestly don't know if I would have purchased it, or I would have asked for a solution before I left the lot. Please know I have no car lighting knowledge. I did replace what was in there with a BeamTewch-S1-L11, I see no difference while driving except that there is less light on the side of the road.

I had initially felt the headlights were fine, especially high beams, but with some snow and rain i find they are terrible compared to my other cars that had top tier HID's.

So i am going to have to do something. I would rather not spend big bucks but IMO that's the only way to do it right. Key for me is reliability, all my other cars never had an issue with the HID's and that's what i want here.

Its possible better fog lights would help since i need more of the ground lit up, but headlights is where i think i need improvement? Been reading that Morimoto HID's with 5500K are good.

Ill be stopping by my local vehicle builder guy who does some crazy custom off road stuff and see what he suggests as well.

This is an excellent, inexpensive upgrade and has made the low beams usable in my 4Runner. I highly recommend.

Update. Since the Baja Squadron SAE do put off a little glair I decided to split the LED output to the top in yellow/fog and the bottom white. Helps cut through fog up high but still lights up full spectrum down low.

I've been reading the threads and trying to find a better option. I even ordered the H9 before I found out you had to modify them and they didn't last but about a year or so. So, I'm just going to stick with the stock OEM for now. I'll decide on a better option when they burn out. I run the fog lights most of the time and it's growing on me that these are fine.

H9 have been in since 2019 and still going strong. So definitely last long and definitely a nice safe upgrade from stock.
