Just moved my USB port. This was the most important/ handy bit of information. Forgot about this step and was getting rather frustrated till I read this post, again.

I think I agree, if I understand what you mean. Are those of you wanting to move the USB port doing so to semi-permanently plug in an MP3 player? If so, why not just load your music onto a small USB drive? No power required and no need to move the port.

Well, in my case, I use a 160GB iPod, I'm not sure there are small USB drives with that kind of capacity. Plus, I like the iPod integration in the new T4Rs.

That makes sense. My USB drive is 128GB and I know you can get them up to 1TB now, although they are expensive. It's the "no battery required" that makes the difference for me but to each his own.
This NanoUSB is new to me.
I'm wanting to keep the music source in the glovebox. I'd prefer to keep the visible areas as free of wires as possible. Random wires stress me out. Not really, they just mess with my OCD. I already have iPods, it seems like it makes just as much sense to leave an iPod in the glove box and move the USB port. Which is what I did. Bluetooth would be good, but my connection seems to be kind of shitty and inconsistent when first starting up my 4Runner. Not sure if it's phone/ iPod, or stereo software.

So tell me this, how does the T4R use and display the data on a USB memory stick? Does it act just like an iPod full of songs? Or is functionality more rudimentary? I would definitely rather have a battery-less USB drive or something full of MP3s, and I would even spend the money on a 500GB stick if it would work with the audio system in the 4Runner the same way my iPod does. I guess I will have to load up some MP3s on a memory stick and see how it behaves.

Yup, makes perfect sense to me. The only snag is if leaving it out in the cold zaps the battery enough that the powered USB port in the 4Runner isn't enough to get it going again.

Yes, it looks pretty much just like an iPod. You can browse, sort by artist, song or album, set up playlists, whatever....

Hmmm, that is cool. PNY makes a 250GB USB memory stick. It's $150 but it would hold even more than my iPod. This is tempting...

As long as there is enough slack and a hole with a blank over it, I can't see why not. Try it!

That's correct, I was able to unclip the cable from the console and run it back to the glove box port without any need for splicing, removing tape, etc. "Hardest" part was safely removing the console panels without scratching them, all else was easy.

Yeah, I actually went ahead did this last week, super easy. Did it in the parking lot at work.

Question, will it hold album art doing it this way?
If you dont mind explaining how you did the file system. Similar to Itunes...Artist folder, album folder inside artist, songs inside album folder. So songs would actually be two folders deep?

Um don't us 10-13 owners have no need since it was already there? You also got hosed on the outlet in the center console!
