Hi-lift and MaxAxe mounting

hey guys,

anyone know of anyone or pics that have a Highlift jack mounted in the cargo area of a runner? Yeaterday I took my 12 year old one to the powdercoater to have it recoated so it will look nice in the runner once it gets here, I have grown attached to it after all these years, it has been in or on every 4x4 I have ever had, and i hate not to carry it with me in the new one. I also have the MaxAxe that needs to be mounted too. Only thing, the wife says it cant look "offroady", we will have to carry the Dane in the back with it,,,,any suggestions?

if you have a new 4th gen, w/o any sliders, you really don't have any points where you can use the hi lift... (if ya know what I mean).

anyway, if you have the 48", you can use the rear cargo tie downs and get some u-bolts at home depot (or any hardware store) and bolt it up that way. you can add a 2x4 under it so it doesn't rub directly on the carpet (will ruin it like i have).

also since you carry your dane in there, i'd cover it up too. (blanket/rag/towel or something)

you have a good point bout the jack not fitting, however its is more than a jack as you know, its just nice to have around. Also I have seen a new attachment that allows you to lift the useing the tire as a lift point

mp, i do understand that you can use the hi-lift also as a recovery gear but it is a very very slow process indeed using the tire thing is cool but something i wouldn't use. also you better make sure you have a flat surface to do that (in my case when i'm one with the rocks, it's usually soo uneven that even putting a hard wooden base won't help! lol... )

sliders would be a great addition though Better yet a winch would be better

also if you're thinking about a hi-lift for those that don't have one, just get the larger one as you'll be happy in the end that you have more room. i had the 48 and out grew it so i'm working on getting the 60. Just don't like the feel of running it to the top of the 48 just to get it off the ground... eh

GoodTimes, That is exactly what I was looking for, And yes pulling with a HL is very show and a royal pain, and winch would be better, However te wife is tired of the off road look I presently drive a Jeep YJ on 37" SSR with all the offroad goodies, including the HS9500i. she said, that it was time to grow up,,,,humm what does that mean!!!!!!! so the runner will be a civilized ride with hidden potential, if you know what I mean:angel:

well here's some cool stuff to know.
ARB will be making a front bumper soon so expect something in the works by the end of the year (earliest) but most likely by next summer (realistic). not sure if that bumper will make it look "offroady" though (that's her call I guess).

sliders are a must and also can double as running boards so

also if you don't want the arb bumper then you can also go with this one by safari gard. (http://www.safarigard.com). they make a winch capable mount for the existing stock bumper (not sure if they are selling anymore but you can always email them).

Thanks for the info, I am familiar with eth ARB products, I currently have the Safari Snorkle and a Frt ARB locker. As soon as we get the info form toyota on the 'O5 V8's we will be ordering a sport 4x4. man i cant wait, but that means I also have to depart with my beloved jeep. But its for the better. it only get 8 mpg and is worthless driving over 20 miles,,,but oh the chicks dig it

where and when did you hear abobut the arb project for the 4th generation. i called them not to long ago (end of November) and they said there was no prototype and they didnt know when they would start thinking about the arb bull bar for the 4th generation. i owuld be very interested in it if you have any info because i am getting ready to look for something else. i really want the arb and i want to get the factory pain to make it look stock and clean. thanks agian

I carry my HL in the back of my 04 by attaching it to the little loops on the back of the back seat in the cargo bay. I think they were designed for straps for a child seat? So it sits on the back of the back seats just in front of the wheel wells. I keeps if off the floor and there is zero movement.

i've seen the 4th gen. ARB prototype on a 4th gen. ... doesn't look quite as rugged as the previous gen. bumpers, but it's still ARB and therefore gonna be very good!
