Hilux 167 snorkel for 3rd gens

The hanger is a great idea! I was messing around the other day with driving like I was 16 again and had some acceleration issues so I might just take the fender apart and install this for good measure.

Well myself and [MENTION=89409]Talltoys[/MENTION] installed our snorkels this weekend.
We also came up with a plan to rectify the problem with the collapsing of the rubber elbow piece that comes with the kit. We used the stock plastic piece that runs inside the fender from the air box. The one end of it is Sort of oval. Like the end of the Starkel inside the fender. Refer to the pictures to see what I mean. We trimmed off a little bit of one end. And then we heated it up with a heat gun and reshaped it to an oval shape. After it cooled down ,We cut it at 5 1/2 inches long. We cut 4 inches off the rubber elbow on the oval side. The 4 inch piece will be used between the snorkel and are modified piece of plastic tube. The other side of the modified plastic piece then goes into the left over elbow.

That looks like that will solve your problem of the rubber piece collapsing, but now you're not water proof...are you?? If in doubt, make sure you go back and use a high quality silicone and seal all your joints!! Other than that...looks really good.

A little update...
As I posted before, I had the problem with the rubber tube collapsing under heavy acceleration. I tried a couple of solutions but settled on creating a coil from some hanger wire. It worked... well, kind of. I had created a coil to fit in the long oval section of the tube from the snorkel to just before the bend. That section of the tube was now very sturdy and there was no way that it would collapse. After reinstalling the tube, I continued having trouble under heavy acceleration. I also noticed that my engine had become very sluggish at higher RPMs (highway speeds). I removed the tube once more and realized that the bend of the tube was now collapsing because of the difference in air pressure inside & outside of the tube. I left the original coil in place and made an additional coil to support the corner of the tube.
Now, it works like a charm. And no more sluggish engine. I figured out that even when the tube wasn't collapsing completely, it was closing up some and starving the engine from much needed air. Now, I have the power I need to accelerate on to the interstate and maintain highway speeds even on long uphill grades.

I had a few issues with my instal. The snorkel, once inside my fender was too close to the inside of my fender to install the rubber tube. I took my fender off the get it on. Not fun. Getting the rubber tube onto your air box is pretty easy once you take the air filter out. You can just reach inside to box the fit it around the opening. Had a p0100, and p0110. Cleared them, and have not returned yet.... Yet.

Could be a silly question and without handling the product I wouldn't know. Would PVC pipe work to connect the stock air box to the snorkel?

Probably not unless you could heat and form the pvc. It's an oval where the snorkel ends and a circle at the airbox.

Can anyone take a pic of the "L" bracket that secures to the pillar ? is it a perfect 90 degree right angle?????
I recently bought an ARB snorkel off Craigslist and it came with 0 parts except the snorkel itself....
So I will be going to the hardware store to pick up all the hardware...
Also wondering the dimensions of the "L" bracket itself
