How are you finding your transmission temperatures?

Curious on the best method you are using to find your transmission temps.

I have searched and found that some are using a scan gauge. I am using OBD2 reader with bluetooth to my phone with the Torque app. Have also tried a few others such as Piston.

However i cannot find in the list they let you choose from to view, the transmission sensor(s).

I found 2 that said Catalyst Temp that had temps in the 125 range with steady driving.

I am planning more towing this summer and will find knowing the temp helpful.

Anyone else stuck with this? I could not find an answer with specific instructions or specific sensor name.

I use odb fusion on my iPhone. I had to create custom pids to get the app to show transmission temps. The torque app maybe a little different. Try using google and checking threads on Tacoma world. There are quite a few discussions over there on getting transmission temps. You should be able to find the pids you need.

I found a great thread showing how to import the PID / Sensor settings for the 5th Gens.

Did a brief test and appears to be working.

Basically import a csv file into Torque.
