How To: AEM F/IC-6 Install, Tuning, and Help Thread

Do you have a link to the early 3RZ harness from AEM, I've looked before and only been able to find a couple very expensive harness options.

I don't have a link but I found a ton of them, from eBay, Amazon, and summit even had them I think. Unless that is a different harness that is. I hadnt done too much research after I realized it wouldn't work for me.

I found a money tree, it had "LTC" written on it :)

Upgrading my blown-out terrible stereo system first then (hopefully) be buying a wideband and methanol injection kit! Looking forward to the rest of this.

Nioce! you gonna run the FIC too? you may want to look at getting that rigged up first so you can tune for that meth :) you will be surprised at the power to be had just by tuning too I'm sure. I was at least lol!

Good job on the money tree btw! :whoo:

We have money trees in CO, just became legal not too long ago!! LOL.

Anyways what AFR's are you shooting for under boost and WOT??

Do you think it'd be better the other way around? I didn't know there was anything to gain just tuning stock injectors.

My thought was meth injection + wideband + smaller pulley for more raw power, then add a piggyback like the FIC to tune for smoother more efficient power.

If you get a wideband you will see why it would be best to tune the stock injectors first. There is no need for extra enrichment, by meth 7th or other means, but the stock injectors need to be tuned for close loop and only a slight bump at WOT. You definitely will want to tune with just the super and stock injectors before adding additional variables, and I can garuntee you will get a substantial power bump from that.

Think of it as a pyramid with a smaller pulley at the top, and the tuner at the bottom. You want to do it in stages and getting a base tune is the critical first stage, and honestly a wideband should be the bottom because you will need to know what your AFR's are doing before you get a base tune on.

part throttle bellow 12.0-13.0 (could go much richer, but seems to run good at these values) and wot 11.6

Sounds pretty good, we used to run 10.0-11.0 on our turbo 4 bangers. Super rich but really safe for high boost. Stock AFR under WOT was 9.5:1. ECU tried to keep those motors alive!!

E85 I have ran 30+psi, 22* timing advance and 13.0 (ran 12.5 daily) AFR with zero detonation and was making crazy power. E85 is amazing.

Yeah we have those same money trees unfortunately... and they are draining the water out of our steams and rivers up north in order to water such trees...

It's all for medicinal use, of course. I think I need a "prescription" for this mild headache I get from time to time...

Haha yes, yes it is! My buddy with the big turbo DSM runs E its great.

My favorite is my roomate with his cobalt tho, he runs ~13.0 at WOT because of direct injection, just nuts.

Direct injection is awesome! Its like race fuel from 2000psi fuel pressure atomizing the fuel. Tech is crazy. Buddys speed3 runs it but can cause issues when running e85, only draw back. Guess injectors clog pretty quickly.

Yeah in the cobalts the E will eat the injector seals, but luckily a company called ZZPerformance has E safe replacements super cheap :D

Nice. I have been playing with e85 for about 15 years. My brothers car has been running it about that long. He had racing SS lines, fuel pump, and rail all the way from tank to fuel rail. Last year he comes out to his car with all his e85/fuel on the ground. It took about 14 years to eat through all the fittings and line inside the SS (that was e85 safe). When he pulled the SS line out all the rubber inside just pored out.

Needless to say it took very very long time to cause an issue. He now has upgraded to Nascar rated e99 fuel lines and fittings. It was like $600 just for parts. But should fix the issue.

God almighty, lol I gave myself a heart attack lol. I read that as $6000

Been super busy with work and trying to get ready for my trip to the UP this next week. I will try and hammer out the tuning portion after I finish replacing my nose cone tonight.

Just finished the install of it last night but it wont fire with the computer plugged in.

Fires and runs with the bypass plug so I'm thinking i have a in/out possibly mixed up. It throws a code for the cam sensor circuit after cranking for a bit with the computer plugged in.

Yay.
