Been reading this thread as it develops, you'll likely have another mule for this in a few weeks on a "stock motor" at first and then a fully built one to see exactly what our trucks can do.

Sounds good to me! I am keeping it conservative for the next year or so, maybe meth and a smaller pulley, but nothing crazy. After I am out of school though, I am gonna go all out. 2.0" pulley, big injectors, and what ever else I can throw at it. While I am in school though I want to shoot for around 300 wheel.

Nice! I am not going to worry about rods/pistons or head work until this motor goes knock, knock, who's there? it's a rod! I have heard of guys going to 500hp on the stock internals and having them hold. Reliable is a whole another deal at that point..

Is the block interchangeable? I know the cams are.

The blocks have a different bore but the crank is forged and a direct drop to the 5VZ. The bottom end on 5VZ is pretty solid, its the top end that runs out of flow at high rpms. You could try the 3VZ cams and valve springs if you were to up the max rpm's.

If your at the point of needing better internals you should be running a turbo. No way trd SC could over power the stock motor. Trans and gears will fail before motor.

Ok. Christmas is approaching and this is probably going to at the top of my list. I am not comfortable with a bunch of wiring and soldering. If I get the universal kit and the urd harness will I be good to go?

Should be g2g. I made my own jumper harness from an old ecu, but that was 100+ solder connections on top of the 20 or so wires it takes to do the AEM install so I would go URD if you arnt comfortable with soldering. You will only have to solder 20 or so wires then and that's not bad. You could even crimp them if you really wanted to, but I don't recommend it lol.

I decided to go with the boomslang harness. It's fully PnP. I can't wait to get it installed. I also decided to start over with the engine mods. Right now its running a SC, Urd 2.1 pulley, and AEM meth injection. It's runs great, but still has a very slight high gear/low rpm ping and has a problem running lean after a long pull with the meth spraying. So I'm going to disable the meth and will probably change the pulley to stock when I start tuning, as per your pyramid. Thanks for all the great information.

Very nice! I wanted to go boomslang, but broke college kid probs lol. You are going to have the same exact setup as me ha-ha. I ran out if money this last summer otherwise by now my runner would be a meth addict as well ha-ha. That sounds like a solid plan just take it one step at a time and you will be very happy with the results. I really need to take some time and further my tuning section on here. Once the gears are replaced in the rear next week maybe I will do that. Happy tuning!!!

You get detonation with meth injection? WOW

It doesnt madder, that would make you run pig rich if running the meth on the same tune. Yes you can have rich knock but very unlikely. I could not make my car knock on e85 or meth injection. To me if its low end ping it could be phantom knock. Something else is being picked up as detonation. Low rpm boost with meth injection should not be detonating at all.

It is knocking right before the meth kicks in. I think the only way to fix it is to retard the timing. Once the meth kicks in it immediately stops.

OIC that makes sense, I was thinking you where spraying and knocking.

Phantom knock or false knock is when the knock sensor picks up something other than real detonation.
