How to do the 03->06 Headlight Swap.

I swapped the ebay converters for https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008E001IO?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image and the LEDs I use started working
I followed these steps but the Akon led headlights already had a harness so all I needed was a h11 converter. (Keep in mind the h11 converter won’t work if it’s plugged in reverse polarity-my eBay kit did not have the top tab to dictate the polarity)
I wish I had the part number for the male plug portion for the turn signal and DRL ... I got impatient and just stripped the wires .
I was able to get the LED and amber light to alternate as a turn signal.

Did the same lights. Not sure about where you live, but in Texas blinkers on the front need to be white to amber, so the DRL works as a blinker too. I've only had them for about a month but no condensation so far (I didn't silicone them at all). Here is a link to the bumper fillers at Rock Auto since I didn't see those anywhere in the thread (that still worked).

I left the regular light bulbs they come with in the projectors for now and put some dumb bright LEDs in the high beams.
In the videos the DRL blinkers at night w/o headlights on is pretty shocking. They're way less stark during the day. They look pretty normal.

Here’s what i did:
Option 1: Thad/Original instructions: I did recognize that my turn signal would look like “Thad” (I’m going to assume it’s what I’m describing below)
a. During the day LED, would not be on unless turn signal is engaged - to me this defeated the purpose of having LED
b. At night, LED would come on and alternate with amber light, but amber light and LED both blinked at the same time (this bothered me also)
Options 2: Flipping the outer two wire (the route i decided to go)
a. During the day, LED would be always on (Amber is always on)/ when turn signal is enabled it would alternate between amber and LED
b. Night time: LED would always be on/ when turn signal is enabled it would alternate between amber and LED.
I have no hyperflashing and decided to disconnect my amber light next to my fog light since i knew was drawings double the wattage since amber in headlight and amber next to fog light were both on. (Plus I’m awaiting for my Demerol bumper, so i don’t be using it anyways, but wire are still connected if i needed to use it)

Sweet I think the only difference is that my amber in the headlight blinks and alternates with the LED. So LED flash on - Amber off then Amber on - LED off
These things are awesome!!!! LED are definitely bright... brightness is closer to Tesla cars not bright than 3rd gen Tacoma DRL

You seem a bit confused with my setup. The DRL == DRL, no matter if they're the original yellow in bumper or if they're the strips in the headlight.
Some specific examples.
My DRL are on in the day (obviously, it'd be really dumb if they weren't).
The DRL are off when the parking brake is engaged from start but will remain on if the parking brake is engaged after start.
The DRL blink with the blinker b/c the factory DRL is also the blinker.
The DRL are OFF when the parking lights (amber light in headlight) are on or when the high/low beams are on.
Even if the parking light/high/low are on the DRL will blink whenever the blinker blinks.
While the original DRL and the parking lights are both amber, they do not act the same way - they act as described above for 03-05 rev.1. In the rev. 2 (06-10) the amber light in the headlight serves as the DRL and blinker as there was no second set of amber lights up front.

male PN I got is 90980-11294, it's just a white male empty housing. Going to try swapping wires from DRL/TS socket into it this weekend to wire up new lamps.
That part number says for non DLR . So let me know if that works . Is the 03-05 limited wiring different from sport/sr5?

yeah, the non drl connector threw me off too. Hell, the connector looked more like an insert than a Toyota OEM connector. It's just 3 empty slots, no wires provided. Went to install and found I only have 2 wires going to my DRL's in bumper and decided I didn't haven't enough time to mess with them today. I want the LED strips on with the headlights on. Any ideas how to wire that? I went by the dealer I used to work at and used TIS myself. That connector number is the only one that pulls up in the EWD under 06-09.

So to be clear, if you wire the LED strip using the DRL feed, it will turn off with low and/or high beams right? I'm thinking about just running new wiring and a switch for the LED strips as I'd like them on with the headlights.
I figured out an easier way to wire this up. Instead of cutting and re-routing wires, I popped the pins out of the Akkon side connector, swapping them there. all you need is a pick or mini flat head to release the pin locks and its easy.

So i'll be doing this upgrade soon. I ordered some used OEM 2006 headlight units. I have HIDs currently and want to not blind people anymore 
So, I'm pretty sure I don't have DRL in my 03 Limited V8. I looked at my current headlight unit and there are 3 bulbs: high, low and yellow side marker thing.
The lights on the bumper are Fogs and turn.
Looking at the 06 housing it has 4 bulbs. I can prob just skip the DRL bulb (or just install one to plug the hole? This should be pretty straight forward for me in terms of lights/bulbs, right? I just need to get a H11 bulb and adapter (9006).

I have a 03 without DRL as well. I still got the 1156a bulbs to fill the slots of the headlight so i wouldn't run into any condensation issues.
the other bulbs are the same size. Yes you need the 9006 to H11 adapter and you're all set!

Still works great! Upgraded the HIDs to LEDs for low and high beam and they are brighter with less wiring to deal with.
