Kudos for the OP to start this thread and help people who wanted to do this conversion. I just want to add a bit to what I did in case someone decides to do this modification in the future.
I have a 2003 V8 4runner. i just want to point out, the reason you have the hyperflash blinking for the lights is because somewhere is short. When I did mine, I matched exactly what the coloring of the wire is. Green with green, red with red. I didn't do a combo like some of the ones here suggested and combined the DRL together with the blinker, this is where you get the hyperflashing because the current is short somewhere.
If you keep things all the same without combining the wires, there will be no hyperflash. So for my setup, i made my light low beam and high beam halogen. I had HIDs but for some reason one stopped working right away.(they are very sensitive to static, please wear gloves if you are going HID) . Once I got the high performance Sylvania halogen bulbs,( $60 per pair) it was actually brighter than the HID. I thought I had my high beams on, which I didnt. My belief is that the blue tinted white look gives you a false perception that things are brighter, I prefer Halogen.
Oh btw. for those who are wondering what it looks like with HID. let me kill your hopes here if you are trying to make it look like those fancy european /bmw cars with the new LED look. it actually doesnt look like that. The reason why is because the new headlamp has the eyeball like projector that makes light focused on one spot. from the other driver's perspective, it wont look as good or as flashy like you are passing by a new car/bmw. I would say the old headlamps would be better if you want people to see the LED effect. the new headlamp projector kills that LED look. I paid $500 for OEM from Toyota, instead of risking half price for a leaky aftermarket .
I made the DRL amber instead of white, and the turning signals amber of course.
my next mod is to borrow the power from this modification since i cut them anyways and use it to power my side mirror signal led .
hopefully my 50 cents helps future people looking to do this mod.
