How to open lift-gate if both levers don't do anything

So, I have tried the suggestions listed here/online and this guy just wont budge. The two levers on the actuator move when I try to open but seems like the little lever has probably broken off or something.

I was thinking of cutting the top white plastic on the actuator and see if I can see anything from the top as I am running out of ideas.

If I remember correctly, all the lever does is release something that allows the latch to open. If the latch is all corroded and locked up then you'll need to either push hard while using the lever or lube the latch from above, probably both. Look at various videos to see which is the correct latch and the direction it needs to go.

The white cover has 1 philips head screw holding it on, then pull straight up, hard... pics added for clarity.
The left side just pulls straight up and off to expose the levers.

The smaller lower lever is the latch release.
The upper lever seems to go down and in when the door lock pulls itself in and latches...electrically.

When i had mine apart it was mostly failed due to part of the latch that stuck.
It is a small metal sliding tab, part of the latch... in double yellow circle, pic.
Hard to see or really get at. Cant see it in pics because it is internal to the latch.
If you could poke around in the passenger side of the latch, behind the unit and rear door outer shell, like a small straight pick like tool... might be able to free up the stuck slide tab part of the lock...maybe.

Rear MPX door unit, unplug bottom right power plug, 10 count, plug back in and 2x door unlock on the key fob to reactivate the rear door switch.
