How To: Toyota OEM LED Fog Lamp Installation

Great info and write up OP.



I wonder what the light output difference is between the ones made in Japan VS the ones made in China. Anyone have any idea? I'm going to be honest, I'm just going to get the chrome China ones due to price.

Can you post pictures of the Chrome ones?

I was going to get the dealer to add the LED fogs when I purchased my LE yesterday but he stated it install cost would be around $3-400 for the labor. I passed at that point with the idea to do it myself.

Now I just need to figure between the black and chrome...

I can confirm that these will fit a 2011 Trail. (Not perfect fit but they fit close enough)
Probably the same for all 2010-2012 models before the snout change.

I can confirm that this can also be done WITHOUT removing any part of the fender liner, reaching up from underneath.
Probably the same for all 2010-2012 models before the snout change.

I can confirm total install time of 30 minutes or less which includes taking 12 before/after/comparison pictures.
Your mileage may very on this depending on your mad skillz...

Tools needed one (1) short Phillips Head screw driver. These are held in place with 1, yes ONE 3/4" long Phillips screw on the outside edge.
The 2 tabs on the inner edge tuck into the bumper plastics.
They are made very similar to the original fog housings, but just a tad different angle, so you might need to wedge them in a little bit to get them in place.
Front glass doesn't fit as close to bumper plastics due to the slightly different angle, but no one will notice but you.

Those aren't OEM. You won't get as good light with those.

I should have known that price was too good to be true. They will be returned. Now I need to decide if I want to pay the high price for the real Japanese lights, or go with Xenon Depot Xtreme LED pros. These are the two options I was considering.

I got mine from Ebay, and only paid $140 bucks shipped. Just make sure to select brand Toyota, and find some with the oem box to know it's real. Some have a broken tab, don't get those unless you don't mind that. Just use those part numbers to help you find them.

Better is subjective, you linked used lamps as well. These are black, they are exactly the look I wanted, and the price is fair imo.

The lamps I linked 2 were new and one used. Also they have better reflectors.

For my 18 ORP I got the Toyota OEM LED foglights from Amazon, PT413-42190 Fog Light (Chrome). They look like the ones pictured in post #42. Before installing I applied yellow lamin-x, purchased directly from the manufacturer, sku:T147. It’s a little larger than the lamin-x covers for 4Runner and fits these light perfectly. The fogs and lamin-x both were described as intended for Tundra.

• Reach up behind the bumper and turn the adjustment screw on the fog lamp with a #2 Phillips screwdriver. I was able to reach up and adjust them with everything in place, even the right side fender liner.

This I don't understand as the adjustment knobs are too large in the center for any screwdriver I have. But I can easily turn the ridged adjustment knob with my fingers so no issue....... But still, this screwdriver instruction is a bit odd.
