Ideas on underhood mounting for Fuse Block

I bought this because I needed a main fuse for my audio system upgrades and had several powered circuits to wire, (lights and seat heaters) and this fit the bill for all my needs in one stop. Well I got it home and then went out and popped the hood and realized how very little extra room there is for mounting something like this.... So now I am trying to figure out where to mount this thing. The only place so far I have found for it is on the firewall tucked between the brake booster and fender but it doesn't offer great access to the fuses or the wiring.

I have about 5 feet of O ga wire to feed it so I would like to keep it close to the battery, but have decent access to it. I'd appreciate any ideas, suggestions, or what worked for you with pictures.

Definitely not a lot of room for extra panels. I'd be afraid to put it on the firewall by the booster since so much water runs down there - think 'infamous grommet leak'.

Thanks Guys, that is exactly what I was needing to see. I had though about mounting over the factory block, but wasn't sure about accessibility, but it looks like that will be the best place. I am also going to check on the relay box that he had posted.

I will post up some pictures of the install once it is complete.

Reviving old post.

I installed my Blue Sea Safety Hub 150 and relay box. A guy on ttora mounted it to the lid of the underhood fuse box but I figured if I needed to change one of those fuses it would be a pain to reach (pulling wires out of the way).

I made a hinged mount so I could have access to the underhood fuse box.

I mounted a Hella 4 relay socket on the inner fender beside the battery. The only relay there now is for the driving lights. I'll add more later for fogs and other accessories.

You can see the post mounts to the wheel well and the top plate/hinge bolts to it. It is two piece so it can be removed without removing the wire that loops around it.

The wiring comes in the engine side so it can hinge out of the way of the factory fuse box.

I also skipped the mega fuse/breaker since the wire is only about 5 inches long from the battery to the fuse box (it IS a fuse box after all).

All it has now is a 25 amp fuse for the 2M ham radio and a 15 amp fuse for the driving lights, but I'll add more (40 amp for the inverter, 10 amp for the fridge [if I get one], etc.). It has plenty of room for adding things. Being an electronics guy I just couldn't stand the loose wiring and relay and fuses tie-wrapped to other things. This is much cleaner (and safer).
