The recirc button is a strange entity....I never really noticed it, because it was instinct to turn it off when I fired up the truck....but if you think about it, why the hell is "recirc" mode more default than "fresh?" Just doesn't make sense.

Agreed... utterly useless both in terms of size and the fact that you cannot open it if there's anything in the cup holder.

Makes me think we might as well can the cupholders too... they are next to useless IMO. Cups either fall about in them cuz they're the wrong size, or are too tall to fit in them at all thanks to the strange back-slope of the center dash.

And why are there lights in the cup holders? It's not like they're hard to find in the dark... just crash your cup into the center dash a little too fast and there will be the cupholders, ready to contain your spilled drink.

For me, it'd be the fog lamps. They do nothing for me... Or maybe the double decker cargo thingy...

I dont understand how the HVAC even works on these trucks. My recirculate never comes on but why is the dam a/c always on when you push the auto button ? No matter what the temp. or season.

The other day it switched to front window defroster for no reason....I dont get it.

Cupholders - I Like 'Em

I've never had a problem with the cup holders, I put all sorts of different size cup/bottles in there and haven't had one fall out yet.

I concur. Best of any vehicle I have owned. They are even lit at night.

The only configuration they don't work well with are the mugs with the handles that extend to the very bottom. Even with those I can store one by moving the center partition.

I haven't found any use for this either. Once in a while I would flip it open, stare at all the little nubs, rub the nubs, and then close it. Absolutely pointless. I wish they designed the lid to open a smaller top compartment in the lid itself like the Camry's.

and one more thing on the underside of the armrest lid there is a space for kleenex... absolutley useless. thats a nother usless point of the armrest and one more reason they should make a dual compartment armrest. deep and shallow

Here's another rant about the Auto Climate Control - particularly the auto switch to recirculate mode.

ACC is so poorly implemented that I've turned it off, but you can't turn off the auto recirculate no matter what you do. If the cabin temp exceeds the outside temp, on comes the recirc light and you swelter until you realize what's going on and manually turn it back off. What in the world is Toyota thinking here? Can they be thinking at all?

There have been many, many complaints about this feature since the 4th gen trucks first appeared, and Toyota has blithely ignored them. My guess is that a simple, nearly cost-free software change would solve the problem!

By contrast, our '05 M-B E320 CDI will turn OFF the recirc mode several minutes after you engage it!!! Much more to my liking! However, the rest of its ACC is no better than Toyota's in its own inept way!

Hey, I can tell you don't do drive-ins! The burger tray is ideal for holding two large mugs of A&W root beer while eating the world's greatest hot dogs at The Root Beer Stand in Kalamazoo, MI.

Tell ya what - I'll swap your burger tray for my useless double-decker cargo thingie!

I again actually use the burger try when I eat my lunch out in the 4Runner every day. I find it to be very useful.

The tissue box holder is nice too, I always know where they are and easy to get too. No having to reach over to the glove box when I'm driving.

i use the double decker cargo thingie when i go camping. tents and sleeping bags fit under there perfectly. and my stuff doesnt fly all over the place on turns and when braking hard

He said "NUBS"!!!!!

I think they meant for it to be a notepad holder to write notes while talking on the phone and driving while watching the In-Dash GPS at 65 MPH in a nearly 5K lb. vehicle!!!!!

Seriously my vote is for the CUP HOLDERS, the Auto AC Function, and also THE FRIGGIN TPMS!!!!!! I mean come on it is not like I have alligator arms but it's also like I am not sitting on the steering wheel when I drive!! Who did they think could reach the cup holders, YAO MING?????? WTF?

My '00 Camry has it all over these CUP O' SOUP Holders.

I find the cup holders very easy to use, and in a great location. I don't even have to look down when getting my drink. It's just right there.

I LOVE the fold out tray in the center console, its where I organize my herbs from time to time ;-)

and I also dont have probs with the cupholders, as my beer is usually in a cooly which LOCKS it right in.

I keep visine , hand sanitizer and gum in the little compartment abouve the cup holders.

really the only thing i dont use is the double decker setup, or the rear cargo slide cover.

Yes all valid points:
1. Tire pressure gots to go
2. Compartment above the cup holder-too small.
3. 4th gen has way too low ground clearance
4. JBL-10 speaker system sucks...is that the best they can do...anyone hear of Bose.
5. the kleenex holder is friggin odd.
6. the armrest is way to big and should have been compartmentalized.
7. the stupid recirc button always acts up

All the above should have been given a second look by Toyota.

Finally, T?@/7 got it right. It is not a hamburger tray for eating lunch everyday.....it is a motherf*'n surgery table. There is alot of surgery that goes on that tray. If you dont know, you betta ask somebody because I do not sniff the coke I only smoke di sensimilla. Too bad you are so far away...we could meet and
combine surgery techniques...hehe
