If you have used NAPA cv axles please reply

napas have been good for the money. I have bought 3 of the "new" ones. they were $90 Then i took 2 broken oem cv's and used them as cores on the napa remans. they ended up being about $55. so i keep 3 spare cv's and haven't tried the reman version yet. I have broke 4 or 5 napa new ones but they have all been replaced. That warranty starts running out when they see you over and over for the same reason.

Now i just take broken cv's to a different napa and they keep warrantying them. I have been happy enough with them.

Some of napa's stuff from altrom imports has the 555 stamp on it so I bet that's what the kids father in-law is talking about. I'm holding out for his response.

Those are the ones. They all come from the same plant in Japan. For a while Toyota factory parts were had to.get even for dealers because of the earthquake and tsunami there but I think that Toyota has picked up its orders and shipments so getting factory parts isn't an issue so much anymore...

NAPA axle is doing fine

No problems with the NAPA axle. It installed easy and has been in there since July.

I've been running NAPA Maxdrives for 2 or 3 years now. I've broken a couple wheeling. They're good and like Jmoney said, they've always honored the warranty. I even returned a different brand CV to them and they swapped it out. They didn't even ask about it.

When it comes to wheeling, the OEMs break just as easy. CVs just break when you push them, fact. I wouldn't be paying $150+ a pop to Toyota every time I break one tho. So in that regard, the lifetime warranty of NAPA is totally worth it.

I have run napa cvs for the past 2-3 years. I have lifetime warranty so I replace one of them every year or so. I dont really run them that (off-roading) hard for fear of breaking on the trail. I have noticed that from time to time the boot slips on these axles. No big deal though. Its a cheap way to run axles if you get the lifetime warranty.

I am considering trying out the rcv axles for our rigs. THey are expensive as hell but Ive run out of mods that I can do in my townhouse size garage, and they are lifetime warrantied as well.

I'm on two napa axles right now, and they have lasted me almost a year and a half. Boots still intact, just recently I sprung a tiny leak in my passenger upper boot, but it's so small I'm not worried about it ATM. The two I've broken were from Auto Zone of course.

So I replaced mine about 4 months ago due to the fact that I had one shock longer then the other. I lowered it and everything has been great. The moral of the story is don't extend your shocks father then 3" or you will go through cv axles like hotcakes! At least they are lifetime warranty

Hey! Thanks for the response I guess at this point I have no reason not to go with Napa new. I was tinkering with the idea of getting the remanufactured ones thinking I might get an OEM Toyota axle. Just wish there was someone local that rebuilt cvs

Drivers side was new, passenger is reman. The recent leak from the upper boot is on the reman.

I'm running max drives for about 2 years now, several wheeling trips. Lifetime warranty how can you not use them? It's the last cv you will ever pay for.

Thanks to all for your replies, very informative and i'll be a lot more comfortable pulling the trigger on them now. Its true the lifetime warranty is tough to beat but didn't want to be dealing with the hassel every few months. Even more so I was worried about the horror stories I heard of some after market cvs breaking off in the diff.

I put a NAPA remanufactured CV in about 10k miles ago. It has worked great for me, a little off roading and having it in 4wd going up skiing I've had no issues. I got it at NAPA because all of my friends said that they make good remanufactured CV axles, and there is no point in buying a new one when they have a warranty there. I think it was around $60 I can't remember what the core charge was. I'd recommend them for sure.
