LBJ replacement

replaced my LBJ's at Timm'y BBQ this weekend and made a little video to commemorate the shindig....

For those that like part numbers the LBJ part numbers work for all years but the bolts is what is different....

bolts for 96-00 are different than 01-02.

2001 -2002 LBJ Bolts Toyota Part # 90119 - 10933

I might have missed this somewhere in the depths of this thread, but with your e-locker did you have any issues with the brakes being different on the rear axle (having trac/vsc and all).

The brakes themselves should be the same, but 01-02 have two brake lines in the rear while earlier ones and all e lockers only had one brake line coming down over the rear diff so you have to drill the holes for this one.

BFAD covered it in his build when he swapped.

transmission after the first 3k miles

so far so good.

Transmission has been nothing but what you expect from a genuine Toyota part.

Passed 3,000 miles on the new transmission the other day.

How does that new tranny compare against your old tranny when it was working good?

I'm just curious what a good new 3rd gen tranny feels like in comparison to a decent original tranny.

My truck was down for a few days last week and had to borrow a friggin Toyota minivan. Holy shit those things suck ass and shift like crap. Made me realize that even with nearly half a million miles on my 4runner's transmission – my tranny shifts quick & firm – unlike the Sienna with only 160k on it.

I can only imagine how a new tranny performs though.

I've always taken a small measure of security in the knowledge that my tranny will probably not just grenade itself without any warning – that if I remain astute to the "goings-on" of my transmission – I should be able to detect impeding failure before I find myself in a critical situation. But now I wonder...

2nd Annual "Convoy Down the Coast"

I have had a great time hosting events over the last 3 years. Organizing Mod days, wheeling trips or just BBQ's has brought together awesome people that love their 4Runners. There is definitely something special about these vehicles.

With the "Convoy Down the Coast", I wanted to do something a little different. Different from a typical wheeling day or mod day. My ultimate goal is just to get a bunch of people that love their 4Runners together, so a simple drive down the California coast is what I came up with.

In other news.. my tundra brake upgrade was doing great.... but I started to have a little bit of noise, rotors may need replacing, but I'm opting to have them resurfaced instead. These things still have tons of life left in them.

Cooper Discoverer MTP
