Finished the tube doors. Got a drivers mirror made up too. All in all im stoked on them I think all 4 looks better than just the two front although im about to go put my regular doors back on. These are really just for those nice weather local wheeling trips. I took a few pics.

They were really fun to make. I have under $100 into them, that included the hardware to make the quick pins for my doors. I know its not the most creative design, but it is sturdy, and they do not rattle at all. If anyone ever wants to make a set hit me up if you need some ideas.

Time to go break some cv joints.

Pretty cool.
I want to buy a set of junkyard front doors and do some low window sill notches. Then do some snap on plastic windows in case it gets nasty while wheeling.

I like it. How long does the door switch take? How did you deal with the door electronics?

I can get all 4 off and all the tube doors on in about 15 minutes. Putting the regular doors back on takes a little longer because you have to get the pins in while holding the heavy awkward doors.

As far as the electronics go, each door wiring harness has plugs in the truck that are easy to get to. There are two plugs for each front door. located in the kick panel. The drivers side front plugs are blue and the other is white. the passenger front plugs are blue and the other is black. Each rear door has a plug right behind the panel that covers the seatbelt. Pop that off and unplug it. And there is a door sensor for each door, I unplugged all of them and leave them unplugged since i can tell when a door is open.

Its really easy. I have pins in each door that hold them on. I know other people have made tube doors where you unbolt the stock door from the hinge and bolt on the tube door. I like the pins

Little update. I broke my 3rd cv in 6 weeks :) Gotta love changing it out on a night run too. Napa replaced it for free. I have 3 napa cv's and have broke all 3 and have received 3 free ones. I go to a different napa each time.

On to the next topic. Bfg Km2's... Not the best tire. I have had them for about a year and I think they have about 5-7K on them. and i dont know how many wheeling trips. but i generally wheel at least once a week. and i dont drive my truck for anything but wheeling. Check out this strange line that shows up on all 4 tires ( i only took pics of 3) You can clearly see where the tread meets the sidewall. Im not concerned about it, but I am almost positive i will be running 315 treadwrights next. After seeing a 4 normal tires start to de-lam, I would feel better if they were re-treads. I thought it was rock cuts untill each tire has it and you can feel a hardness difference between the 2 tires

I aslo got tired of having to pull my budbuilt off to change a cv on the trail. It sucks and last time at 11pm i was pissed and decided to chop most of the sides off. Im sure it will now bend easier, but its already pretty mangled. It is spring loaded....It probably doesnt look like much unless you own a bud and know what it looks like on the sides

And finally Check this self-made PH drop bracket. Its made out of .250 receiver tubing. I made this for a member on this forum. It fit great and it beefy. Its mocked up on my 4runner to make sure it fit before I shipped it.

Driffter33's also wanted upper links after breaking 2 stock ones so Ill be building those next week hopefully

damn, those doors came out awesome! If you plan on putting them to the test, which I kinda doubt, I would consider gusseting them.

What good are they unless you smash them on rocks! I have came really close to them, and my friend hit his on the same line. Of course I'm going to use them. I built them to remove as much sheet metal as possible for those days at the hammers. Your not the first to mention gusets. I think they will be okay, my sliders are made from the same stuff and have only dented. The only gussets on those are at the frame. Maybe I'll try and add a couple in the larger open area. I think some1/8th plate on the b pillar would be really nice

And sorry to under estimate your destruction jay :)

It might very well be de-laming but I had similar cuts like that on my tires and it was from rubbing the inside of my fender like when I was flexed and would cut on the sharp edge in the fender.

I can see where that could be an issue, but my tires dont rub anything but the plastic gas fill tube cover. they are just de-lamining. Its visible on all 4 tires, and its worse after each trip.

I got my trail gear aisin clutch kit and new flywheel installed on monday. A CLUTCH JOB ON THIS TRUCK IS A BIG JOB TO DO IN ONE DAY BY YOUR SELF. this is the 3rd clutch i have done on this truck, but my first time alone and first time bashing it all out in one day. It took about 8-9 hours including break times. I had the trans/tcase, flywheel, and pilot bearing out in 3 hours. install of all the new stuff took longer since i took my sweet time to insure it was all done right. went wheeling on tuesday on john bull and everything seems good. the clutch has a light pedal feel, but seems to grip really good. my old clutch didnt look in too bad of shape, im guessing my slipping issues were from the stock flywheel with 240 K on it and it has not been turned... it was really worn down

Jay- everything for your links showed up today. ill weld them up on sunday, WFO has really nice bushings. it was my first time ordering from them I heard they are better that most companies on customer service and shipping times and im impressed.

And a pm will be sent about the panhard drop shorttly

Jason I think its just a split between two rubber compounds. your putting more milage on those side lugs in a day then most will in the life of the tire. Ill look on mine but i think i have lines too. my treadwrights wore funny in that spot as well. nothing to worry about though.

Im not worried, they have just been a disappointment. the are a year and a month old. have about 7k on them, are about 50% worn. Treadwrights are my next tire. i chew tires up anyways.

well I never update this thread, But I do have some updates. Pictures will come soon. I replaced the steering rack guide, and both UCA's the uca's were toast. so i got some used ones and slapped them in. LCA's are next because the bushings are gone. I also did part of the steering rack bushings, but the bolts that hold up my steering rack are too bent to get off without cutting them so i could only get the passenger side and center bushings off and on.

I have some welding to do this weekend. I guess beating on my truck over and over has started to take its toll. I noticed some things started to break. The Oem front crossmember that the skid bolts to has started to rip off the frame, I have a cracked coil bucket on my drivers side. The crack is small so ill weld it before it gets worse. and the Core support (the front of the body that the radiator bolts to as well as what the front body mounts are attached to) Has completely broke apart on the drivers side. There is about 3" of cracks and every spot weld is broken.

Other than that the truck is good :)
