JBA UCA owners: What's your wheel/tire setup?

Thinking of purchasing the JBA UCA's but the main concern I have is how that collar is built, to hold the ball joint, comes out quite a bit towards the tire unlike many other competitors. They even mention on their site of wheel/tire specs that will fit, without worrying about rubbing the UCA.

As someone who's thinking about doing 35's later down the line, I don't want to purchases these now to find out that I need to either buy new UCA's or a new set of wheels.

So what tires and wheels are you running? How much spacing do you have between the UCA and the edge of the tire?

Clearance should not be an issue for 35s. Your best bet would be to give Marlin a call directly. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and I’m sure can put you at ease. Tell him I told you to give him a call.

I am running JBA's and a 3" Dobinsons setup with 275/70-18 (approx 33.5x11) Duratracs on some Dick Cepek wheels that are 18x9" with -13mm offset. I have no contact between the tires and the UCA's and my caster is ~4 degrees.

I know on TW there were some guys that put 285's on stock wheels and rubbed (no sh*t right?) I think if you keep the tire width reasonable and run a wheel that has a better offset than stock you won't run into any issues.

Jba's standard high caster.. radflo 2.5 with resi's.. Fj wheels, spider track spacers wrapped with 285/75/17 ridge grapplers. Caster at last alignment was at 3.6

Stock wheels, 255/80 17 Cooper and 1.5 inch Trail Gear spacers, no rub.

And with 35's you will want a wider than stock rim.

I'd have to look for exact measurement, but as you can imagine there is plenty of space with the pizza cutters.

This reminds me that I need to call JBA and ask a few questions. I asked the alignment tech to give me 4 degrees caster, but they said they could only get 3. I suspect that the tech was just being lazy and used the spec the machine gave him. Want to double check with Marlin that I installed correctly and that there is not some other reason for the caster not hitting 4, but from all reports 4 should have been no problem. Not many options for an alignment shop that will actually do what you want around me. Got the same result from a different shop after putting Incognito UCAs on my van. I suspect that I need to find an alignment guy who understands lifted trucks and how to follow directions.

When I had mine done I asked for 4deg and they were able to set it no problem.

Following this one. My jba standards and 2.75" lift are going in Saturday morning so new tires will probably be next. Ttrying to figure out. How big and wide I can go on stock 17" rims no spacers.

Since we're running a similar setup with wheels and tires... And assuming your build thread hasn't changed with 1.25" Spidertrack spacers, how much clearance do you have between the UCA and tires? A decent amount? Is it cutting it close?

Why's that?

Although I know that 12.5" wide tires recommend 8" tires, I've heard people mount 12.5" tires on 7.5" wide wheels without issues.

Yea, the pizza cutter route was something I was considering too if I need to end up going that route.

Would be really interested in finding out why you were only able to get 3degrees of caster.

BFG 286/70/17 on stock sport rims with Spidertrax spacers.

Possibly Tucker tire . haven't decided on brand yet. I'm hoping to get 33" by 11 to like a 275/75/17. But don't know if I'm willing to give lot of trimming.

Build thread should be up to date..
Plenty of room... Not even close enough to think about. I could go up in tire width without issue.

3in Toytec coilover, JBA high caster, 275/70/17 Wildpeak AT3W, Stock 17" SR5 wheels, 1.5" spidertrax, ~3.5 degrees caster. I have plenty of room between UCA and tire but not enough to not use spacers. Mainly because I like the stock wheels, I could easily run some aftermarkets and eliminate the spacers but I don't mind them.

I have 255's and I had to get Trail Gear spacers. I probably could have got away with just a thin 10mm spacer because they JUST rubbed at full turn.
