My fluids are due and I got Lexus plugs for the front diff. They're a bolt instead of an inverted hex.

Yep, those are great. Somebody told me about them and I went to the Lexus dealer and picked them up. I have to go to a friend's house so he can weld a hex bit into the stripped drain plug on my front diff so I can drain/refill it then install the Lexus plugs. Those things are nice for sure. It's also long overdue.

Oh I have. I wanted to try the cheapest Fram filter possible and send off an oil sample analysis to see what kind of results I get. I'm going to switch to 3K mile oil changes since this time I drained some pretty dirty oil. And I had a YZZD3 filter on there, too.

FYI, I change my oil once a year. Done it like that for almost 20 years. Blackstone analysis on my supercharged engine looked great last check.

I've had a Fram filter fail. Never again. I use Mobil 1, or Purolator. Wix are good too.

That's the problem . I personally seen 3 different fram oil filters colllasp and fail. By the different vehicles.. No way will I use their oil filters again.

The oil will be fine. Oversized filters are a big false too. Lots of people do it and it's their choice. It doesn't clean the oil any better nor make any impact. I even had dealership people attend classes on it. Just sometimes cost more for the filters.. it's all your choice as it's your rig..

I'm glad you're yielding great results. Yearly oil changes scare me though, lol. I couldn't force myself to even if I wanted. It also gives me an excuse to get out and wrench a little, which is always therapeutic.

The oversized vs standard size filters are the same price for our rigs, at least at Walmart they are. The XG series of Fram filters are supposedly the best on the market. I've used one once before, but I'm trying my luck with the orange can this time.

I took a moment to inspect the brake pads yesterday when rotating my tires and to my surprise they still seem to have a lot of life left on them. They are OEM pads and rotors that were installed in June 2017. I have a set of brembo rotors and hawk pads at home awaiting installation but perhaps I can hold off for some time.

I exchange the fluid with a pump when I change fluid. I am going to see if I can use old fuel pumps to push the transmission fluid in . The next time I exchange fluid.

I just do a simple drain and fill at the beginning of each year and so far it's been giving me good results. The fluid always comes out clean. It's unfortunate that we can't drain the torque converter to truly get all the old fluid out. Wish I had a manual at times...

You can. You have to exchange the fluid and it's real close to 3 gallons. Nothing wrong with drain and fill either.

I figured that if I do multiple drain and fills over time, it will essentially renew all the fluid in the entire system. I could be wrong but it makes sense in my head.

That works too, just a little more labor over the term. I'd prefer to just swap it all at once and be good for 100K but if you like fiddling with the truck it works out the same I bet.
