I wonder if he ever forgave his Admiral dad and Admiral grandfather for allowing the Navy to keep putting jets under him after he kept crashing them which ultimately led to his stay at the Hanoi Hilton? Anyone else and they would have been transferred to a Supply Officer in Nevada for the remainder of their commitment after they lost the first aircraft much less five. Ask any Navy pilot what would become of their aviation career if they lost an aircraft due to pilot error or negligence.

I don't like nepotism any more than the next guy but this has been fact checked and he had 01 plane crash due to pilot error and the others were not his fault. He also didn't start the Forestall fire lol.

I'm not a mod but my personal take on "no politics" is don't make it political. Your comment, which I view as gross (I won't even bother to ask if you ever served) is not purely political so it would pass my test.

I am using the same logic that allows the guns threads to stand in /off-topic/ because discussing individual guns is not by itself political and those threads are still going.

But it is a sad day if we can't even have respect for those who served America without going for the political jugular. Like I said earlier the internet is full of Keyboard Patriots and little men who act tall behind the keyboard. John McCain served his country (US Navy) with honor and distinction and that is something that can be recognized independent of politics because it was not political.
