Cool to see another Runner in Raleigh. I'm local too and just getting ready to start working on mine. Have had it for just under 5 months. Looks good so far with the lift. Subscribing to keep up!

Thanks man!! I always like to find more local 4runner owners! Let me know if you ever need an extra set of hands! I havent done much and dont have much experience with this but a lot of mods are easier when you have another person. Let me know if you start a build thread so I can follow it.

Would be nice to get a group of 4th gen guys that are local to Raleigh together for a meet n' greet!

I found a used grill from an 06-09 on ebay for $100 shipped, which I thought was reasonable. I wanted one off of a sport model because I think the chrome on those are 'smoked' but this one will do. I also had a Home Depot gift card and they had a Dremel on sale so I got one and some other things I will need to complete a satoshi grill.
I had been debating whether I wanted to go with a Silver/Black or a Silver/ Gunmetal color scheme. Since I am getting another grill I decided I wanted to experiment a little bit with the gun metal plasti-dip. Please remember that this is my first experience with plasti-dip... So I plasti dipped the grill with the gunmetal color and the front and rear toyota emblem with the red. I am not really sure how I feel about it yet but I dont dislike it. I didnt take any pictures of the back because I am embarrassed about how it turned out.



Everytime I go to take a picture it just reminds me that my front isnt lifted at all. :frusty: Ready for me to be able to tell I even have a lift kit.
I would like to take time to thank the "Plastidip Pioneers" because I struggle to trust plasti dip to come off even after hearing other people's testimony's. I can only imagine how nerve-racking it must have been to spray a paint-type product on your car without really knowing if it will come off. :rapture:

Pictures are upside down because you took them upside down. Phone and computer is smart enough to flip it, forum isn't.

Grille looks great, looks like we are racing on the satoshi grill. :fencing: I picked up one about a month ago, need to get a dremel saw and the mesh. (and emblem)

Lol the first few times I uploaded it they ended up upside down so I tried flipping the picture before uploading it!

And thanks! The plasti-dip will do for now! Who knows when the grill I ordered will get here but hopefully will be able to start on it soon.

Don't be nervous about the plasti-dip. My last car I plasti-dip'd the entire roof of the car black. Went to sell it and peeled it right off. Waxed the roof and you never would have known that it was painted. Grill looks good.

Reading about your lift set up, I would be really interested in seeing it if you set the 5100's to the max and add the spacer. That's the route I think I want to go with mine when my XREAS finally starts to go. So far so good though.

I also found a set of wheels and tires through a friend that knew I was looking for some. The set comes with newer 4runner wheels and Bridgestone Duelers for $200!!!!!!!!!! :reddance:
But I am not sure if I am going to get them. They werent really the ones I was looking for and I feel like I still wont be happy with them. Plus I stumbled upon a roof rack brand I had never heard of and fell in love. They are called "Prinsu Design Studios" and are more than reasonably priced. Probably going to focus any extra money I have on that.

Alright so I got the wheels today. The guy i bought them from lived in Jacksonville, NC so I gave him $50 extra to meet my brother halfway. I also gave my brother some gas money so I have about $300 in the whole set.

After seeing these wheels in person I like them a lot more than I thought I would. I put them side by side with my current wheel and tire set and it looks like there is about a 2" difference between the two. I had planned on painting these black but after seeing them beside my car I really like how it looks.



And I got the LED lights in. Thats definitely a must do mod because of its simplicity and low cost. Just pop off the covers, pop out the old and put in the new. :first:


I talked to Zach from Prinsu designs today and I am the first on the list for the next batch they make. Cant wait for that.

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!! :dancin: I finally got all of my suspension parts installed and set up correctly along with the set of wheels and tires I got for a steal. And I couldn't be happier with the results!!! And of course, I had to go and test it out a little bit!

No. I haven't had a lot of luck finding any that I like online. If I knew exactly what I was looking for sure it'd be easier. Planning to stop by a local hardware store and buying something or buying some mesh from customcargrills.com

I haven't had my 4Runner for most of the last two weeks, so projects have been delayed. Shop has had it while waiting for approval for control arm replacement under warranty (Finally approved, get it back Friday or Saturday :thumb: ) On the bright side, dealer gave me a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD as a loaner. :thumb::thumb:

Grille has also been delayed because my budget got eaten by a pair of '06 brakelights that I was able to pickup for cheap off craigslist. That and the computer desk I'm now building. At this point, prob. won't happen until April or May just because of work and college etc. =/

Oh yea that was still a good deal. I have found some on ebay for a good price but they werent oem. Im scared if I opt for a cheaper set then they will allow condensation to get inside.

That orange is hideous.... A couple of the colors toyota has released the past couple years have been questionable at best. Have you seen the quicksand?

And I thought the interior of my '03 was an upgrade from a 2000 Silverado... I really would have been in heaven with all that.
