Just got back from a local dealer and saw 2 o5s. The new spoiler is kind of funky and looks bulky and not as stream lined as the o4s. The color keyed bumper accents do not look all that great they kind of give it a military look where everything is one color. Saw a SR-5 with a msrp of 32,195. Ouch. The black roof rails and step guards in black on the limiteds give it the plain SR-5 look. The chrome grill on the SR-5 looks great if the step guards were silver and the roof rails as well. It looks like Toyota mixed up everything on all three models. I am sure the new tranny will be an improvemnt as well as the more hp on th V8. I waited for the 05 to arrive and am happy they have. I will purchase an 04 limited on monday and save the cash. This is just my oipinion so relax and voice your concerns as well.

I don't know if this is the "new" spoiler or not, since it looks almost the same, except with a "bump" at the top of it. This is the 20th anniversary Hilux Surf btw.

Carson Toyota shows 05's in stock in their on-line inventory -- all v6's. In the past, they've shown cars in their inventory that are not on their lot yet (i.e. the pictures are not always the actual car).

I was just on toyota's web site. Decided to price a new 4-runner on the site. First they list the 4x4 v6 limited, sr5 and etc with a 4 speed trans. I thought it was changed to a 5 speed. Also did anyone notice that the 05's are a few hundred more $ than the o3-o4's. I priced my 4x4 v6 limited. On the site it was $300 more msrp than mine was when I bought it last year(if I remember right).

Seems they haven't quite gotten all the info updated on their web pages. The specification page shows that both V6 and V8 have the 5-speed transmission:

but when you go to price one, even though the pricing page says "2005" they still show the V6 has a 4-speed:

I suspect that the pricing page has not yet been completely updated, a few days ago the color chip for the Salsa Red was not showing.

hmm...i know the new spoiler is supposed to function better but the spoiler looks like it just went from aerodynamic to bulky.

Been a longtime 4Runner admirer, but never owned one. Yesterday I finally broke down and ordered an 05 SE, 2WD, V6, side airbags, JBL w/ 6-disc in dash changer, auto-dimming mirror, Natural White.
I'm glad they left the silver accents on the SE because I like them on certain colors, like the white.
Have yet to see an 05 here in Dallas. Hopefully mine will show up soon.
I got that funky new spoiler. May look a little strange, but my experience is that they can help with airflow down the tailgate.
Anyway, just wanted to say hello since I'll soon be a member of the club!

Welcome to the board and congrats on your new purchase. I had always liked the 4Runners too, but never got one since I always had a problem fitting in them comfortably. When the 4th gen came out I was sold. I will have had my '03 Sport 2 years in Nov. and have loved every minute of it.
from what I can tell, I like the new spoiler and might even look into switching out, especially if it helps push more air down the back.
