K&N Air Filter Available

I personally would like to see it continue. I appreciate that you let us know that it is now available (since I never received my e-mail update either), but I do like to hear how good/bad they are from others. As more people join they might be able to provide more great info, such as 'seattlemike' has to this thread. I was going to get one, but now I am question it, do I go with the TRD instead since it is a Toyota part, less likely to give me crap for it, etc. Obviously not up to me in the end, but just my opinion

Same for me....i was contemplating it. I've noticed with our Diesel we get better airflow...but after reading all this, am tempted to change it back to a normal OEM filter one.....will do more reading and research.....

Obviously, either kind filter will work, but there is a tradeoff between maximum airflow and maximum filtration. More airflow means you allow in bigger particles but you get an increase in horsepower and throttle response, more filtration means you get cleaner air into the engine, increasing longevity and reducing heat from friction. Your priorities will largely influence your choices.

If I was primarily running hot, dusty dirt roads and/or racing... I'd choose a K&N and accept that I was going to be cleaning it on a regular basis. Dirt roads tend to have larger particulates and the oiled filter will capture them just fine.

If I lived in a city or suburban area with paved streets or spent time in woodlands, I'd be more concerned with filtering out the very fine particulates that come with living in a city and the tree pollens that make every spring a challenge for my allergy meds.
