K&N Drop In Filter, '93 V6 3.0L

Whaddya think? I have a '93 V6 3.0L and I'm looking for a small boost in response and mileage. How much did yours cost, and was it honestly worth it?

I walked into a Kragen the other day and saw a filter system for around a hundred bucks. I heard it gives out about 15-20HP (but as it says below I could be wrong). I'm thinking about getting one myself. The filter is supposed to be good for years according to the advertisement.

Ok, I just threw in the K&N Filter. I can feel it in first and second gear. Hmmm. We'll see how long this half tank of gas last me.

nice i have the same model as you what are we talking about here the air filter or what the air filter goes in?

i am talking about the drop in filter that just goes into the stock air box.

I was just on K&N's website. Their big 4Runner High-flow filter replacement kit has published dyno results of only a 3.3HP increase. Small potatoes for the money in my opinion.

They don't have dyno results for the drop-in variety but I would expect less than the high-flow replacement.

Mine gave me a couple miles per gallon, maybe 40-50 kms, a tank extra, not a big performance difference tho.

So I bought the el cheap o ebay one with the crappy filter and it works great. I got better gas mileage and more seat of the pants power. I think I spent like 30 bucks. I haven't had any problems at all. And on cold days it works even better.

I just bought a K&N Cold Air Intake and it kicks ass, took me an hour or two for install, and i could feel the boost in the first few gears. The biggest effect is it makes my catback magnaflow exhaust WAYY louder... i love it =) it was about $270 bucks.

I had a drop in K&N for my V6 in my 94 4runner before I did the V8 conversion.....

I didn't notice any improvement in mileage, and only slight increase in performance....throttle response was better. I did the ISR mod a phew months later, and this gave better improvements.

Keep in mind the K&N's don't filter as good as the stock paper filters. I run a K&N filter for around town these days, but drop the paper one back in when going offroad.
