Last minute question on TE price

I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a 2012 Magnetic Grey TE. Sticker=$40599

I am wondering if anyone is seeing pricing much lower than $38988 with the navi-Etune option, all weather mats, first aid, and cargo tray. Dealer says that price is about 1000 over invoice.

Dealer also tells me they only have about one TE about every two months and is not sure they will see another this year.... yea, yea, yea.

No budging on the price and will they have an answer on my financing this morning. So far, they will do 2.84% with 10%dwn. I am asking for 1.9% but it is not a deal breaker. Just might make me wait that two months to see if they blink.

I have not seen much better pricing on the TE. What about you?

That sounds like a reasonable price to me, I paid about $1000.00 more than that for mine back in late April.

I had talked to several sales people at several different dealers when looking for a TE and of course nobody actually had one to sell. But I gave them my phone number and told them to call when one came in.

To this day I have not heard from any of them, even though I happened to find just the one I was looking for at another dealer.

Point is they are hard to find and if you want it, you should probably jump on it or someone else will.
 
I paid invoice for my TE in late May of this year. Off the top of my head, invoice was about 6.5% below sticker. I can check tonight when I get home if that'll help you.

Sounds like a decent price to me, the financing will depend on your credit score, I used to be a finace dealer at a dealership and we use to mark up the % rate a point or two for a profit, my best advice is to try and get a % rate quote from a credit union and see where you are with that.
Dealerships hate credit unions as they typically have lower rates, if you do get a better quote take that with you and demand the lower APR or you'll go and finance through your credit union., remember it's a Business to the dealership, so play hardball.

Hope that helps. I was in the market too and just picked up a silver TE with entune. Still determining if I really like it. No impressed with the handling even coming from owning three 4th gens.
 
These things are not hard to find at any dealer in Colorado. Yeah, they may have only one or two, but I have seen as many as 4 sitting in various dealers when I last checked.

Also - When I was interested in a TE, I was getting $500 - $800 below invoice quoted routinely. Yes - Below. Who knows what games they would try to play at point of sale (fees, etc) but there ya have it.

Yea I checked CO dealerships and can attest to that. There are lots of them there - Not the case in CA.


Anyway I will be checking with a credit union tomorrow.

Out of the blue today I asked a coworker if they knew anyone at Toyota and to my surprise she said yea and put me in touch with her good friend at a dealership nearby.

The friend said they have one on a boat now that will arrive in a week.

She said it is wrapped in plastic and once it hits ground will be available for me in a week or two

She will save me another $500 and a is pretty sure she will beat 2.8% if i qual. I should.

I'm getting pretty excited.

I bought mine 3 weeks ago and paid $37500. It is loaded with entune. Oh yeah, bought it at Stapp Interstate Toyota in Denver, CO

I checked my paperwork last night. My 2012 TE (with KDSS, Entune, Nav and running boards) that I took delivery of last month, stickered for $40,837. I paid invoice for it which was $38,069. There were exactly ZERO TEs available in Michigan when I negotiated my deal, so I had to order it for this price. It took about seven weeks to arrive, but I got it equipped exactly as I wanted and for the price that I wanted to pay.

Test drove the Trail and Limited again today and will most likely go with the Trail.

Although I like the leather seats the trail is what im looking for.

One thing I forgot to check on the TE is if there is a lift gate opener in the truck or keyless? Or, do you have to us the key and hand to open the rear?

Does that make sense>?

I am picking up my TE at the end of the week. It is also magnetic gray with nav and entune without kdss sway bar disconnect and the first aid kit. The price is 35900. I traded my 07 FJ in on it. I checked the availability of TE's in my area and there were 5 including mine. Two were black, one silver and two magnetic grey.

Rear hatch is hand op only. Ask your dealer about leather I'm sure they have someone who will re-cover them or check around on line. Also the soft suspension found on the SR5/TE is easily fixed for ~$500.

Thanks for the info Qjake, I did not test the SR5's.

Are you referring to the SR5 + $500 as a cost savings over the TE's KDSS?

If so, that is something to think about.

No I'm talking about swapping out the front coil overs and rear shocks with aftermarket parts to stiffen up the suspension to eliminate nose dive etc on the SR5 or TE regardless of whether you have kdss or not.
 
Oh it was lbrunner who mention the poor handling, sorry to confuse you. Anyhow if you end up with the same concern it's an easy fix :wink2:

Suspension stock of all three models is best on the TE. No need to change suspension. Just change the tires and you are good to go. That with the rear lockers, beefy sway bars, lack of plastic chrome, lack of silly side skirts and drooping front and rear bumpers make the TE worth it. Buy it and dont look back.
 
I paid 36,500 for a mag grey TE in May. it does not have the KDSS, but does have the other options (Entune, remote start, roof...). While comparing two dealers, my first choice agreed the price from the other dealer was too good to beat (I also got a great deal for trading and FJ).

I still haven't experienced the nose dive that I've heard a lot about.

Accessories are always better purchased after the fact. I bought the OEM all weather mats and cargo liner for less than half the price the dealer was asking when I purchased the truck.
 
Northern California 2012 TE

I just picked up a Black 2012 TE with KDSS and Entune at Toyota of Marin in San Rafael, CA for $38,500. I financed with Toyota and traded in my dog of a Nissan Xterra, which can change the pricing dynamics I know. I was told there were two trails in Northern California including mine, the low availability makes it a little hard to negotiate the price. Picked it up on Tuesday, had it at off road at 9,000 feet on Friday!
