Tips on bending it? I'm trying to avoid mounting it, unmounting, bending, mounting again to check, unmount....etc etc...
Did you just put it in a vise and torque on it?

Yeah, I just clamped it down close to the bend I wanted to adjust and used a pair of vise grips and pulled on them. I had to go back and forth a few times to get.it right.

how is the reception using this mount and what antenna are you using? This is the route I'm considering but I'm concerned with possible multipath from being close to the windshield.
Most likely do a firestick swap on the stock antenna just so they look balanced.

The CBI option is pretty cool, considering you dont have to drill into the body.

I haven't really gotten a chance to test it out. I'm using the firestik firefly. It's a lightweight option.
It mounts over the hood hinge using longer bolts, pretty simple. I'm not near my 4runner to get a picture.

Looking in to the CBI mount. Anybody else figured out any other CB antenna mounting options besides this and the k400?

I'm looking into it. I'd like to have something that mounts to the lift gate hinge to get it up above the roof line. Something clean looking and non-permanent would be ideal. I haven't found anything that I'm happy with yet. I though about having one fabbed up if I can figure out a good way to make it work.

I use the Diamond K550 mounted to the expanded metal floor of the roof rack. It stays down most of the time but when I'm road tripping or want to use it, it goes up in literally 5 seconds. I have easily 7 mile clear reception while doing 75 down the freeway. I have a 5' Firestick and on spring in case I forget and go through a drive through. Lol.
Is there any issue with the mount being connected/ mounted to plastic?

Added a Diamond K540 to the ladder this week. Good fit and finish.
Be advised that the hole for the antenna stud is larger than the standard 1/2" diameter used on Firestik and other CB mounts. I had to add a 3/4" (outer diameter) x 1/2" (hole) washer to prevent the internal antenna stud from grounding out on the mount.
SWR after adding the washer and tuning the antenna was 1.5/1.4 on Ch1 and Ch40. Disregard the unnecessary secondary ground wire (disconnected in the pics). Added that while chasing gremlins before I noticed that the stud was shorting on the frame...

2016 Rear Door/Hatch Ground
I just purchased the K400 Super Gainer mount and plan on mounting it to the tailgate hatch door. Wondering if the rear door/hatch of a 2016 is grounded well. I'd rather not go into the the paint on the door to test it, but will if I have to. For those who have done this install, are you getting a good ground from the two outside allen screws on the mount? I'm looking at installing it to the top of the side edge of the rear door. Appreciate any info on this!

I know this is a bit dated at this point but I just tried this mount location and could not get a swr below 3 with a 4' antenna. Everything grounded but still terrible. So I abandoned the idea and now I'm going to try a fender mount on the drivers side. Hopefully I can get a good tune with it and have the ground a lot closer to the battery. Now I have 3 small holes in the plastic I have to find some plugs for. Wish I would have found this thread before drilling holes.

Lowes has a section of drawers in their hardware aisle. These drawers have a lot of items but look for the plastic plugs to fill the holes. Also the plastic plugs are various sizes and some locations seems to have a lot more choices than others.
